Thomas L. “Tom” Bennett, 87, of Jasonville, passed away at 11:55 p.m. on Monday, July 29, 2024 in his home surrounded by his loving family.

He was born November 22, 1936 in Pleasantville, to Hubert O. Bennett and Dorothy (Joseph) Bennett.

Survivors include his wife of 41 years, Anna M. Bennett of Jasonville, who he married on November 21, 1982; children, Lisa Bedwell of Jasonville, Billie Jo Farmer (Rocky Wilson) of Jasonville, Amanda Spicer of Jasonville, Amber Bennett (Troy Wininger) of Odon, Preston Spicer of Jasonville and Branson Spicer of Jasonville; grandchildren, Kristin Wade, Kamron Long, Tori Netherlain (Josh), Brady Miller, Madison Farmer, Brooklyn Owings, Josilyn Owings, Adrianna Miley, Eastyn Wininger and Journey Harvey; many great-grandchildren; siblings, Jim Bennett (Wanda) of Fla.., Judy Robbins (Curtis) of Ind. and Bill Bennett (Judy) of Ill. and special family friends, Robbie Miller and Shawn McCammon (Mikey).

He was preceded in death by his parents; children, Renee’ Long and Roger Bennett; grandchildren, Michael Long and Jacob Long and great-grandchild, Jolynn Netherlain.

Tom graduated from Pleasantville High School Class of 1955. He worked at GE in Linton, retiring after 37 1/2 years of service. He had many endeavors in life, he owned and operated Howesville Welding, Bennett’s Trucking and Bennett’s Pool Hall. Tom loved Harley Davidson motorcycles, he had been riding motorcycles since he was 15 until he was 75. He enjoyed rebuilding old cars and trucks, one of his favorites was his 1960 B Model Mack truck. Tom did some stock car racing in his car 55, and loved tinkering in his shop. He loved spending time with his family and many grandkids, and especially supporting them when attending their sporting events.

Arrangements are entrusted to Michael W. Cox, Cox Funeral Home; 218 South Meridian Street in Jasonville. Visitation is scheduled from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Monday, August 5, 2024 at the funeral home. Services are immediately following at 2 p.m. with Pastor Mark Messmer officiating.

Interment will be at Peavey Cemetery in Jasonville.
