GCSD looking for vehicle involved in hit-and-run accident

According to police, at around midnight on Saturday, Dec. 4, a man named Gregory Burgess was hit while walking southbound on N. Legion Road in Solsberry.

A press release from the Greene County Sheriff’s Department (GCSD) says Burgess was facing oncoming traffic and was not wearing reflective clothing or using a flashlight.

GCSD says Burgess was struck when a vehicle heading southbound crossed the center line and struck him as he walked along the edge of the road.

The vehicle did not stop after striking Burgess.

The vehicle is described as possibly being dark in color and having a loud exhaust, and may have damage on the driver’s side, front hood and windshield.

GCSD reports Burgess was transported from the scene for treatment, and asks anyone with information to contact their office or Crime Stoppers at (800) 847-5463.

The investigating officer in this incident is Greene County Sheriff’s Deputy Harvey Holt, and other assisting departments were Center Fire Department and Greene County Ambulance.
