Bloomfield library to host 'Boo-rific'

Monday, October 24, 2011

Bloomfield-Eastern Greene Public Library will host a "Boo-rific" time Thursday at 6 p.m. with the help of an Indianapolis based comedy and magic company.

Magic Don -- Don Miller from FamilyTime Entertainment -- will present a silly Halloween program for children and their families, called "Boo-rific, a Family Halloween Show."

"It is directed to the kids, but it is a family program so the adults will enjoy it as well," Children's Librarian Linda Peterson said.

Peterson said this is a new program through FamilyTime Entertainment, and it is not scary.

Magic Don will present magic, puppets and will include audience participation in the show.

He will also be offering safety tips for kids who plan on going trick or treating on Halloween, including checking visibility through a mask and eating candy safely.

Peterson said this Friday is Bloomfield School District's fall break, so kids and parents can enjoy the program, without having to worry about getting up early the next morning for school.

She added the library was looking for a program to get families to spend time together.

"Families spend so much time running around -- going to this thing and that thing -- that they don't usually get the chance to sit down and spend time together," Peterson explained.

The show is expected to last around 45 minutes, she added.

Peterson hopes to have a big turnout for the event so families will get to spend time together and be able to enjoy the show.
