The Shakamak vs. Union (Dugger) opening girls basketball game at the Class A Clay City Sectional was postponed Tuesday.
The game has tentatively been rescheduled for 7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 10.
Clay Community Schools already have been closed for Wednesday, but no decision about the game has been announced.
Miner game Wednesday
The Eminence at Linton-Stockton boys game will be played at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 10.. It was postponed Feb. 5.
WRV splits
Shakamak and White River Valley split a pair of elementary boys basketball games Monday night.
Shakamak won the fifth-grade contest 36-14 as Parker Green had 16 points for the 8-2 Lakers.
Skyler Sipes hit for six points for WRV. Jesse Reed had three points, Ben Hollars four and Conner Sullivan added one.
WRV prevailed in the sixth grade game 37-22.
Dilean Delph hit for 17 points to top the winners. Trey English scored eight points, Jon Park and Carlos Hernandez both scored four and Lane Sparks and Hollars each added two.
Bloomfield sign-ups
Bloomfield Summer Baseball and Softball Leagues will be having sign-ups Saturday Feb. 20 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Wednesday Feb. 24 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Bloomfield First Baptist Church, across from the Bloomfield Swimming Pool.

Linton takes out Eels
Linton-Stockton defeated Clay City 24-21 Monday night.
The Miners were paced by the 14 points of Mitchell Eberhardt.
Pierce Jackson had six points and Nick Wisniewski added four.
The Miners will be back in action at WRV-Worthington Thursday.
Miners now 9-1
The Linton-Stockton fifth grade boys basketball team improved to 9-1 with a 35-18 win over visiting Clay City Monday.
The Miners were led by Josh Dieball with 12 points and three rebounds.
Tyler Meurer led the team with rebounds with six while adding 11 points.
Kendall Williams had eight points and four rebounds while Trey Passen had four points and three rebounds.
Avery Gentry pulled down three rebounds while Justin Rippy, Jayden Myers, Kody Nelson and Joshua Hoffman had one rebound each.
Game moved
The Shakamak fifth and sixth grade boys basketball teams will face Eastern Greene Monday. The games were originally scheduled to be played Saturday but moved because of the Eastern Greene varsity game being rescheduled for Saturday.
Eastern Greene game Saturday
The Eastern Greene at South Knox High School boys basketball game, which was called off Feb. 6, has been rescheduled for 1 p.m. Saturday.
The junior varsity game will be first followed by the varsity game at 2:30 p.m.
Bloomfield game moved
The Dugger at Bloomfield seventh grade boys basketball game has been moved from Monday to Wednesday night. The game will start at 6 p.m. There will be no eighth-grade game as the Bulldogs only have one team.
Miner Hall of Fame inductions and alumni game set
The seventh class of the Linton-Stockton Baseball Hall of Fame will be inducted at Roy Herndon Field on Sunday, May 9.
The ceremony will take place on the field at 1 p.m. and will be followed by the alumni game and home run derby.
All fans are invited to attend the event.
The 2001 Miner baseball team that won the Class 2A Eastern Greene Sectional and were Southridge Regional runners-up will be inducted into the Miner Baseball Hall of Fame at that time.
Members of the team that are planning to attend are asked to call coach Bart Berns (812) 384-6408 and let him know that you plan to attend the event.
Softball sign-ups
Sign-up for summer softball in Linton will be at the Linton Sporting Goods on the following Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. -- Feb. 20 and 27 and March 6.
Cost is $50 for each girl, $15 for the second girl in a family and $10 for each additional.
To be eligible, girls need to be between ages 4-18 as of Jan. 1, 2010.
Girls from surrounding areas are invited to sign-up. Participation in the fund raiser is required of each girl.
The final sign-up will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, March 10 at the East Shelter House. For more information, call Jeanette Beverstock at 847-7022.
Freshmen game moved
The White River Valley vs Bloomfield freshmen boys basketball game will now start at 6:30 p.m. Feb. 17.
Shakamak Youth League electing managers
The Shakamak Youth League (baseball, softball, t-ball) will hold a meeting Wednesday, Feb. 10 at 7 p.m. to elect managers of teams for the upcoming 2010 spring season.
Interested individuals must be at least 18 years of age.
Voting on managers is done by the officers of the Shakamak Youth League.
If interested but cannot attend the meeting, call the league president, Chris Fougerousse at (812) 798-1835 so he can include your name for consideration of managing a team.
Shakamak Youth League player registrations
Player registration for baseball (ages 6-12), softball (ages 5-18) and co-ed T-ball (ages 3-4 for girls and 3-6 for boys) will be on the following Saturdays: Feb. 20, Feb. 27, March 6 and March 13 from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. at Hanna Field in the upstairs meeting room in Jasonville.
Cost of registration is $40 plus fundraiser for the first child, $30 plus fundraiser for the second child in the same family and $25 plus fundraiser for the third child in the same family. Cost is free after the third child.
Parents can opt out of the fundraiser by paying an additional $20 per child.
These prices are for children ages 3-12, softball players ages 13-18 will cost $50 each with no fundraiser.
Players from out of town are welcomed to join the league as well.

Sectional tickets on sale
Bloomfield athletic director Ron McBride would like to remind fans that tickets for the Class 2A South Knox girls basketball sectional are on sale in the BHS athletic office until noon Thursday.
The Lady Cardinals will face Eastern Greene at 6 p.m. Friday in the first semifinal.
Season tickets, good for all three sessions are $9. Single-session tickets, which cost $5, will be available on game nights at South Knox.
