Parks was arrested during a traffic stop at the entrance to Lawrence Hollow Estates around 1:30 a.m. on Jan. 28.
Greene County Sheriff's Deputy Bobby Pierce first got behind a vehicle on State Road 445 and was following when it did not use a signal when turning onto County Road 1150E at the entrance. He initiated a traffic stop -- Parks was a passenger in the vehicle.
Pierce reported the driver did not have a valid driver's license but did have a state ID card and offered to let the deputy search his vehicle.
According to a probable cause affidavit, before searching the vehicle, the officer asked if there was anything in the vehicle he needed to be aware of. The driver said there wasn't anything to his knowledge but there might be something in Parks's purse.
The deputy also noticed Parks had glassy eyes and her speech was extremely slurred.
Parks handed her identification, from Virginia, to the deputy and told him she was wanted in the state of Virginia for violating a court order but they would not extradite.
A records check confirmed there was a warrant for her. The other passenger's license was suspended.
The affidavit states the deputy asked Parks if he could search her purse, she consented and the officer reported finding a prescription pill bottle with a scratched-off label which contained hydrocodone and klonapin pills.
Parks was taken into custody and transported to jail.
Other deputies who responded to assist on the scene included Brad Deckard, Rick Marques and Jeremy Inman.
Parks was charged in Greene Circuit Court with two counts of possession of a controlled substance, both class D felonies.
