Hueys celebrate 50th anniversary

Mr. & Mrs. William Huey of Sandborn recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary at the French Lick Resort Hotel with family and friends.

William Huey and the former Gloria Atkinson were united in marriage Jan. 1, 1950, at Bethlehem General Baptist Church, Vincennes. The officiating minister was the Rev. James Wilcher. Their attendants were Devona (Smith) Elliott and the late Duane Elliott.

Mrs. Huey is the daughter of Lestle and Ruth Atkinson. Huey is the son of William and May Huey.

They are the parents of Lestle Vaughn Huey of Sandborn and Monty Ray Huey (deceased). Grandchildren are Andrea Nichole and Christopher Lee Huey. Daughter-in-law is Barbara Jane (Shake) Huey.

The Hueys are residents of Sandborn and Fort Myers Beach, Fla., and are former Pike and Gibson County residents. Both graduated from Mount Olympus High School. Huey attended Purdue University. The Hueys own an agricultural service business. Gloria has been involved with the Extension Homemakers organization for over 50 years and has served in positions of leadership on the local, state, national and international level. She served as state president of Indiana Extension Homemakers Association and Alumni President of the National Organization.
