21-year-old faces charges for allegedly breaking into house

Tuesday, January 5, 2010
A 21-year-old rural Bloomfield man, Brandon T. Johnson, was arrested on New Year's Eve and jailed on suspicion of breaking into a residence, stealing prescription medication then providing it to a minor.

Johnson has been held without bond but is expected to appear at an initial hearing in Greene Circuit Court on Wednesday morning.

The preliminary charges filed against him on Tuesday include: Burglary, a class B felony; theft, a class D felony; dealing in a Schedule III controlled substance, a class B felony; and dealing in a Schedule IV controlled substance, a class C felony.

Johnson lives in the Lawrence Hollow addition in eastern Greene County and the burglary allegedly occurred in the same area at the home of a couple Johnson knew.

On Thursday morning, a burglary at the residence of Christine and Keith Long was reported to the Sheriff's Department and Det. Christopher McDonald and Deputy Terry Wade responded to investigate.

McDonald reported they found the Long's front door had muddy footprints on the bottom and had been forced open, possibly by a shoulder, and a padlock hasp had been pulled off and the door jamb shattered.

The only thing reported missing from the home was prescription medication.

According to the probable cause affidavit, Keith Long had just filled some prescriptions four days earlier and Johnson, a neighbor, had been in Long's home when Long put his medication away. Johnson and a minor were suspected as being involved in the burglary.

The officers found the minor who was in possession of one of the medication bottles with Long's name on it. The officers then spoke with the minor at the Sheriff's Department, accompanied by his parents.

The affidavit alleges the minor was with Johnson when they went to the Long's residence but the Longs were not home and Johnson then forced the door open, went in then came back out with the medication in his pockets.

The pills taken included Vicodin and Xanax.

He "allegedly" broke into these people home. Him and his friend had the stolen meds on them. I wish some parents would do a better job on teaching thier offspring, right from wrong. Put both of these kids in jail. I hear it has a brand new roof.

Another REASON "WHY" people need, big, agressive, mean dogs, that are well trained... Do you think those joker would have broken into the house if there was a German Shepard, doberman pincher, rottweiler, or pit bull inside the home?
