Later the same day, he was released after posting a $4,000 bond, but he was back in jail the next day after he reportedly violated a protective order then was belligerent when police arrived and escaped from their custody. He is accused of battering an officer.
Besides the class D felony theft charge connected with the incident at Pamida, a new case was filed against Adams in Greene Superior Court on Tuesday morning.
The newest preliminary charges include: Escape, a class C felony; battery upon a law enforcement officer, a class A misdemeanor; resisting law enforcement, a class A misdemeanor; and invasion of privacy, a class A misdemeanor.
Greene County Sheriff's Deputy Eric Shane Smith responded to the Pamida Store on the south side of Bloomfield after a call about a shoplifter on Dec. 22.
Smith reported he found Adams in the store holding a silver matchstick container with a pair of socks and a pair of gloves sticking out of the top of his vest.
An employee said Adams had picked up a box of Milk Duds and was eating them in the store while he shopped.
Another employee said Adams had been acting suspiciously and another employee found several knives missing from the packages.
Then when employees looked around in the sporting goods section, they found several other empty packages. They then located other empty packages in other areas of the store.
When Adams started to leave, an employee told him he needed to pay for the Milk Duds and he reportedly said he didn't know anything about the Milk Duds. He was asked to come back inside the store while someone called 911 and advised that the subject was in possession of knives.
According to a probable cause affidavit filed in that case, Deputy Smith placed Adams under arrest and located two knives, a bottle of deer urine, fire starter, a compass, several pairs of socks, one pair of gloves and several packages of hand warmers on Adams.
Prior to Adams's release from jail, he was served with a protective order stating that he was not allowed at the residence of a Bloomfield woman on Gilliland Street even if he was invited.
The next day, Lt. Harvey Holt was dispatched to that residence twice in four hours after the protected person called in to say Adams was there.
The second time, Holt reported Adams was standing in the front room of the residence and Holt told him he was under arrest.
But as the officer attempted to place handcuffs on the man, Adams resisted and after getting the first handcuff on, the officer said he was unable to get the other arm close enough to place a handcuff on due to Adams's size and resistance.
According to a probable cause affidavit filed in the second case, Adams resisted forcefully, grabbed the officer's arm and attempted to push him.
After a warning, the officer initiated a drive stun with a Taser on Adams' inside thigh which had no effect.
The officer took Adams to the ground but Adams failed to let go of the officer's arm, they both hit the floor and Holt initiated another stun which also had no effect.
The officer did manage to get the second handcuff on Adams and noted that a copy of the protective order was then found in Adams' pocket.
Adams was walked out to Holt's patrol vehicle, which does contain a kennel for the BPD's K-9.
When Adams was placed inside the vehicle, the affidavit states, "Due to the size of Mr. Adams and my dog kennel, I was unable to get the door shut. I was also unable to get the seat belt on him."
Adams was placed in the front seat and another unit from the Sheriff's Department was requested for transport. But before it arrived, Adams was able to get out of the vehicle while the officer was speaking to the residents.
Adams fled on foot while still handcuffed. Other officers arrived and searched the woods with assistance from the K-9. Adams was located by Deputy Marshal Jordan Hasler, also of the Bloomfield Police Department, and transported back to jail where he's being held without bond.
Adams is scheduled to be arraigned on the latest charges in Greene Superior Court on Wednesday morning.

He obviously had the $ to pay for his items at the store. He needs to stay in jail for a few years to calm down. What a moron.
