Gov. Mitch Daniels will join with other state and area business officials early next month to preside over a grand opening and ribbon cutting of a new business park located on the south side of Bloomfield.
ParagonForce, a Bloomfield-based firm, has developed NorthGate Business Park, located on Furnace Road, just off of U.S. 231 South.
"We're pretty excited about it and it will be a good thing for Bloomfield," JR Davis, president of ParagonForce, said.
The privately financed project has caught the eyes of state officials and they will join in the celebration that begins at 11:30 a.m. on Jan. 6.
Gov. Daniels, State Rep. Borders (R-Jasonville), State Sen. John Waterman (R-Shelburn), Greene County elected officials as well as senior leadership from Naval Surface Weapons Center Crane (NSWC) and SAIC are expected as honored guests.
Recently, ParagonForce purchased 29 acres of real estate on Bloomfield's south side and established the NorthGate Business Park, complete with the first construction of many planned for the business park being a 6,000 square feet production facility that houses the SAIC prime, ParagonForce subcontractor, "Water Jet" foam and metal cutting operation.
"Water Jet cutting technology is one of the fastest growing major machine tool processes in the world due to its versatility and ease of operation. The process involves a jet stream of water, forced through a tiny nozzle at a very high pressure that cuts materials and parts often considered too costly or even impossible with other methods such as laser and die cutting," Davis said.
The ParagonForce company has immediate plans to expand the business park. The firm currently employees 25 and has plans to double its workforce during the 2010 calendar year, according to Davis.
The park offers "shovel-ready" business sites complete with water, sewer, electrical and other utility services. About $500,000 has been invested to develop the site and construct the first building, according to Davis.
"We can put several buildings down there," Davis stressed.
Davis pointed out that the company has received valuable guidance from Rep. Borders, Sen. Waterman and the governor's office in helping to get the project from a dream to reality.
"They've all been a big help when there were certain issues that we needed help with, when it came to bonding and finding the right people to help us. They are great to have. They helped to steer us in the right direction," Davis explained.
"Ambitious expansion plans for NorthGate call for developing capabilities of technology, industrial, commercial, as well as ParagonForce corporate offices to call the new location as home. Extensive work was needed to complete needed connections to town sewer services. This project was recently completed and greatly facilitates those very plans of expansion," Davis said.
Davis acknowledged that Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC), and NSWC Crane officials have been very helpful in the project development.
"Everybody has come together for the good of the cause. They've just been really accepting to what we have done."
Davis stressed that the new business park is in no way competition to the already established and growing WestGate Technology Park, located near Crane Village.
On June 1, JR and Sherri Davis, from Solsberry, announced the opening of ParagonForce, Incorporated, a woman-owned, HUB-zoned company.
Sherri Davis serves as owner while JR Davis fills the role as company president.
The office has current offices located on 25 North Franklin Street in Bloomfield.
Together with core leadership of chief executive officer Ray Darnell and chief operating officer Shannon Fitzhugh, the company has teamed with SAIC and NSWC Crane, while initiating construction bids internationally to expand the company's footprint into worldwide business.
ParagonForce is a full service construction management and general contracting firm. While the firm specializes in commercial and institutional construction for federal and state government agencies, they also manage projects for customers in the private sector.
The technology division is a one stop information technology solution for business computer/computer related requirements. The firm is able to analyze IT needs, design appropriate architectures, strategies and applications, while providing the day-to-day support. It also offers Web site design and full services for the home computer.
Davis commented, "Our vision is to be a model of excellence and a proactive business partner, as our name ParagonForce suggests, with our mission statement founded on the values of integrity, character and humility. We are honored to be part of the continuing success story that is Crane, SAIC and the greater Bloomfield area."
