Greene County General Hospital Auxiliary

The Greene County General Hospital Auxiliary will hold its annual Christmas party at 2 p.m. Dec. 3 in the cafeteria.

Greene Lodge degree work

Greene Lodge #577 will have an Entered Apprentice Degree today. Eat at 8 a.m. and work at 9 a.m. Visiting brethren are welcome.

Linton Moose

Linton Moose will have a fish and shrimp dinner from 5-7 p.m. and karaoke with Kim at 8 p.m. Saturday. Public is invited. Money goes to charity.

Eastern Greene School Board

The Eastern Greene School Board will meet in executive session at 6 p.m. Nov. 30 to discuss personnel. The meeting will be in the upstairs conference room at the high school.

Christmas Cantata

Lyons First Christian Church will hold its annual Christmas Cantata at 10:30 a.m. Sunday.

Christmas in Village

Christmas in the Village will be conducted from 1 - 6:30 p.m. Dec. 5 at Scotland. Vendors, fun, food and crafts at the Scotland Hotel and fire station. Live entertainment at the Scotland Chapel every hour on the hour from 1- 5 p.m. Santa will be at the barber shop from 2 - 5 p.m. Lighted parade on Main Street at 6 p.m. with the lighting of the memory tree in Cady Grove following the parade. The Scotland Full Gospel Church will also serve soup and sandwiches in their fellowship hall during the event.

Fifth Sunday sing

A fifth Sunday sing will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 29 at Walnut Grove Church. Everybody is welcome. Bring songs and instruments.

Hymera Community Church revival

Hymera Community Church will hold revival at 7 p.m. Nov. 30 - Dec. 4 with Rev. Wayne and Sue Rice. The church is located at 116 S. South State.

Gospel music

Painting workshop

Spring registration dates

Registration for spring classes at the Greene County Community Learning Center will be Dec. 1, 8, and 15 or by appointment. Classes will begin Jan. 11 and classes from Vincennes University include: English Comp II, American History II, Speech, Principles of Sociology, Intermediate Algebra, College Algebra and Fitness Walking. Ivy Tech classes include: Financial Accounting, Intro to Microcomputers, Spreadsheets, and Microsoft Outlook. All classes will meet in the evenings and are at White River Valley High School. Visit the Linton Rotary Mini-Park, see Santa

Santa's workshop will open at the Linton Rotary Mini-Park today from noon - 4 p.m. It also will be open -- Nov. 28 from 1-4 p.m.; Dec. 12 from 1-4 p.m.; Dec. 19 from 1-4 p.m. Santa's workshop will be closed Dec. 6. Santa and his helpers will be coming through by train that day compliments of the Indiana Rail Road. The train will be at the Indiana Rail Road tracks on South Main Street from 1:30-3 p.m.

Greene County Salvation Army

The Salvation Army is in need of bell ringers for the holiday season -- which runs now through Dec. 31. Bell ringers will be at Linton Save-A-Lot, Walmart and Bloomfield IGA. Dates and times may vary. To volunteer call 847-2512.

Festival of Trees

Shawnee Theatre of Greene County's sixth annual Festival of Trees, at the Greene County 4-H Fairgrounds in Switz City, is winter wonderland with fabulous decorations, beautifully decorated Christmas trees, and gifts. There is a special area for the children to enjoy, and visits from Santa Claus on Saturdays from noon to 3 p.m. Refreshments will be available as well as homemade candies provided by the Greene County Homemakers Clubs. The event is open from 10 a.m. - 8 p.m. today and Saturday and Sunday from 1-4 p.m. These trees can be purchased through a silent auction which ends Nov. 29 at 3 p.m. when the bidding closes.

Linton Tri Kappa selling cheese balls

Donation of toys needed

Donations of new, unwrapped toys are now being sought by Greene County Clothe-a-Child Project for distribution at Christmas to low income children. Collection boxes are located in Linton at Sears, Regions Bank, MainSource Bank and Dollar General Store; and in Bloomfield at Pamida, Dollar General Store, Monroe Primary Care (708 W. Main) and Bloomfield State Bank.

Parents Day Out

Trinity Lutheran Church will host a 'Parents Day Out' Dec. 5 from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. Parents can get a jump on their Christmas shopping and enjoy a Saturday of Christmas shopping while church volunteers take care of your 2 to 14 year old. Call Trinity Lutheran Church at 847-7372 to reserve a place. Lunch and snacks will be served. Child's information sheet must be completed in order to use the child care service.

Bloomfield leaf pick-up

Leaf pick-up in Bloomfield is now under way. The street department is working rotations of north and south streets and east and west streets. Rake leaves to the curb, not in the street.

The Worthington Senior Center has persimmon pulp for sale. One pint for $4.

More money for tires

The Greene County Recycling Center has received an additional $500 from the Greene County Health Department to continue its Tire Amnesty Program. GCRC Director Erek Wilson said his facility can take up to 400 more tires. For more information, call 659-3788.

Prom dress sale

Recycling Center update

The Greene County Recycling Center will not accept old paint as part of its Household Hazardous Waste program through April. County Solid Waste Management Supervisor Erek Wilson said shutdown during the winter months is necessary because the facility used to store the materials is not heated. All other hazardous household waste products will continue to be accepted. The center accepts motor oil, oil filters, anti-freeze, mercury containing items, fluorescent light tubes, other household chemicals, as well as old computer components. Alzheimer's Support Group Meeting

Cardinal discount cards

Clothes pantry

The Linton Church of Christ is setting up a clothing pantry in the church garage. The pantry will allow people to trade good clothes that are no longer wanted or needed for other suitable clothes. The church has some clothes but is in need of donations, especially clothing for children. The church will also give away school supplies. Clothing pantry hours are 3-6 p.m. Mondays and Thursdays or when needed.

9-1-1 addressing reminder

Greene County residents can officially start using their 9-1-1 addresses after they have received an official letter from the U.S Postal Service in Indianapolis.
