Bank robbery in Owen County leaves Spencer Police, Indiana State Police asking for help

SPENCER -- The Spencer Police Department and the Indiana State Police are investigating a bank robbery that occurred at 1:50 p.m. Friday.

The suspect entered the Peoples Bank, located at 304 East Morgan Street, displayed a handgun, gave the teller a bag and demanded cash.

No injuries were reported.

The suspect left the bank headed south on East Street, according to a news release from ISP Public Information Officer Sgt. Curt Durnil.

The suspect is described as a white male in his 50's. He was seen wearing a tan baseball hat, tan jacket, a button down tan or gray shirt and blue jeans. The suspect was wearing glasses at the time of the robbery.

The Spencer Police Department is asking anyone with information on the identity of the suspect to please contact them at (812) 829-3932, the Owen County Sheriff's Department at (812)829-4874 or the Indiana State Police at (812) 332-4411.

They couldn't have gotten a better picture of this guy if he had posed for it. I'm sure this guy's family is in shock this morning after seeing this guy's picture in the paper as a bank robber. He'd better be a very long way from here or just go ahead and turn himself now because it shouldn't be long before they catch up with him and find out who he is with the clarity this picture shows. I think this is the first time I've ever seen a photo of a bank robber who didn't wear some kind of disguise and who appears to pose for the camera. In fact the police probably already have the guy in custody as we are reading this article if he stayed around here...lol

I work in Elletsville and we saw this guy at about 1230 that day! Kind of scary!

This appears to be the same man who robbed the Community First Bank in Corydon in October. Hard to believe that he has not been caught since his pictures are so clear in both instances.

Unbelievable that people have claimed to have seen this guy around town at various places, I would have thought he'd be in custody by now, so strange since his picture couldn't be clearer. Drivers license pictures aren't this clear or good, imo.
