Linton woman facing theft charges

Friday, November 20, 2009
A Linton woman now faces preliminary charges of theft after stuffing her purse with goods in Save-A-Lot.

On Nov. 6, Angel Walls was spotted shoplifting by Linton Save-A-Lot Store Manager Joby Cox -- who then reported the incident to the police.

Cox then led police to Walls as she left the store, states the court document filed in Greene County Superior Court on Nov. 19.

But when Walls left the store she proceeded to walk across the street to her residence.

At that point, Linton Police Detective Duane Collenbaugh identified himself and asked Walls to stop but instead she kept walking and went inside her house.

According to the court document, Collenbaugh knocked on the door and was met by Walls' mother -- who let him in. He then spoke to Walls who admitted to taking the items.

Walls then handed over the stolen items -- which were stashed under her bed.

Most of the stolen items were toiletries such as toothbrushes, shampoo and skin cream as well as a pack of lighters.

Walls was taken to the LPD where she gave a statement and was then transported home.

Theft is a Class D felony.

Charges have been filed and an arrest warrant has been issued.
