"We're not just the unemployment office," explained Heather Yung, who serves as a community employment associate at WorkOne.
The local office may file claims and appeals, but it also assists individuals by offering free workshops, community service referrals, job postings, and training.
"We encourage individuals to know skills and to improve their skills," Yung also said.
The local office also helps individuals by providing one-on-one counseling as well as workshops on how to create a strong resume among many other services.
Yung also encouraged businesses to utilize WorkOne services -- which are offered free and funded through taxes.
"You're paying ... so you might as well utilize them," she added.
MindLeaders -- which is an on-line e-learning provider -- is a great program to use, Yung said.
Courses such as Photoshop 7, Word 2007, Sales and Marketing, Retirement Planning, Office 2007 and much more are offered through the on-line course.
"We really want to encourage you to use WorkOne's services," Yung added.
In other business, Chamber Board President Crystal Woods announced the annual Christmas party will be from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Dec. 1 at the Old Bank & Company Restaurant in Linton.
She also said to mark your calendar for the annual dinner at 6:30 p.m. on Jan. 21 at the Linton Elks Lodge.
"We'll reveal the business of the year as well as the individual (at the annual dinner)," Woods added.
