* Earlier this month the Bloomfield Town Council passed an ordinance dealing with house numbers. The council has faced criticism from some, calling it an infringement of their personal property rights.
Too many homes in Bloomfield are not properly marked, and that concerns the council and Bloomfield Police Department. In case of an emergency, the council and BPD -- and other emergency personnel -- understand that time is important.
To those who were involved with the ordinance, good job. Keep doing things that will make life better in Bloomfield.
* A group of citizens met Thursday night at Humphreys Park in Linton to talk about how the park can be improved and come up with ideas about maintaining what is already there.
Park Committee member Fred Markle organized the meeting with the help of a few others.
Twenty-one people showed up and met for 90 minutes.
Kudos to Markle and others for starting the Pride in the Park campaign.
* It's always nice to see people give back to their community. That's exactly what the Worthington-Jefferson High School class of 1985 did Tuesday afternoon.
W-J graduate Sonny Hinchman -- a member of the 1985 class -- died earlier this year in Iraq. While a part of the military he used to fly helicopters on missions and when he and his fellow military personnel had time, they would drop soccer balls to Iraqi children.
The W-J class of 1985 decided to do the same to the White River Valley-Worthington Elementary School children to honor Hinchman. Kevin Benham helped organize the event.
With the help of Hinchman's mother, Nina, and Benham and his wife Jana, the balls were distributed Tuesday afternoon.
