Bridgewater adds to local charges with allegations in Bloomington

Thursday, November 12, 2009
A man previously arrested in Greene County for felony possession of marijuana, Jason A. Bridgewater, 33, Springville, was arrested in Bloomington on Monday in connection with a sexual assault.

The preliminary charges against Bridgewater include rape and burglary, both class A felonies, and confinement, a class B felony, according to the Herald-Times.

Bridgewater is accused of climbing through a window, threatening a woman with a knife then tying her up with a cord and sexually assaulting her several times before leaving with her purse and a laptop computer.

Bridgewater is reported to be linked to the attack through DNA evidence.

In Greene County, when police executed a search warrant at Bridgewater's residence in January, police said they seized several large bags of marijuana and he was subsequently charged with possession of marijuana as a class D felony.

The search warrant had been issued in Putnam County after Bridgewater, then 32, was arrested in the Greencastle area on preliminary charges of possession of marijuana, possession of paraphernalia and operating a vehicle in violation of a restricted driving permit.
