Two injured when two trucks collide near crest of hill

Two people were injured Friday night in an accident involving two trucks near the crest of a hill on County Road 425S west of State Road 45 in eastern Greene County.

One of the drivers, Christopher J. Bailey, 38, Springville, suffered a head injury and was transported to Bloomington Hospital.

Vickie Wert, 40, a passenger in Bailey's truck, suffered an abdominal injury and was also transported to Bloomington Hospital.

The other driver, John B. E. Helton, 16, Owensburg, was not reported to be injured.

Helton was driving a blue 1996 Ford F-350 truck westbound on CR 425S, in Jackson Township.

Bailey was was driving a red Toyota truck eastbound on the same county road.

Greene County Sheriff's Deputy Leon Dunigan responded to the scene around 9:55 p.m. and reported that Bailey was going up the west side of the hill when Helton's vehicle came over the hill and the two collided on the west side of the hill, both struck with the left front fender.

The Greene County Ambulance Service treated and transported Bailey and Wert.

Both the Center Township and Owensburg Fire Departments also responded to assist on the scene.
