Greene County Sheriff Terry Pierce is reminding drivers to exercise extra caution and be aware of farm equipment on the roads during the remainder of the harvest season.
"The weather has broken and the farmers are out there getting the crops in. They're moving a lot of equipment right now and I'd just like to ask the public to be patient and adjust their driving habits. Drivers need to be cautious," said Pierce.
From combines to big tractors, wagons and large trucks, drivers on Greene County roads frequently encounter many slow-moving vehicles during the fall.
"This equipment is moving a lot slower than the normal traffic flow," said Pierce. "I hope drivers will bear with them. This will only be for a short period of time. I want to encourage everyone to be aware of these vehicles and be careful."

It might also be a good idea to remind equipment operators and farmers to be considerate and cautious when they are on the roads. When they have a chance to get over and let traffic pass, they should do so, especially in the morning and evening hours when people are going to and from work or school.
Just remember they are "at work" so please give yourself a few extra minutes to get to your work safe.
