Look for the Bloomfield School District to host its Veterans Day Ceremony at 1:30 p.m. on Nov. 11 at the Glover Gym.
"The ceremony will be a patriotic display featuring the award winning ROTC Color Guard, musical selections from Center Stage and the high school band," explained Bloomfield Elementary Principal Mary Jane Vandeventer in a press release.
Students and staff members will remember past and present veterans who through their service have preserved our freedom and the American way of life during the event.
The Bloomfield School District is also inviting local veterans to participate in the school's annual ceremony.
The district is requesting veterans who will be attending to make reservations by calling the elementary office at 384-4271.
Look for Eastern Greene High School to honor veterans at 9 a.m. on Nov. 11 at the high school gym.
EG High School Principal Kevin Frank said the traditional program will feature a special guest speaker as well as patriotic music by the band.
The guest speaker has yet to be scheduled. But it's usually a local veteran, he said. After the guest speaker, some students will share their thoughts on Veterans Day.
Linton-Stockton High School will conduct its ceremony at 11 a.m. on Nov. 11 in the high school gym.
Elaina Hughbanks, student council sponsor and L-S teacher, said, "Dr. Bob Smiley will be our guest speaker. He's former military and a submarine vet."
Look for special music to be provided by the L-S choir during the event and the VFW Post 7118 to conduct a 21 gun salute.
Veterans and their families are invited to come to the school at 10 a.m. for light refreshments to be served in the annex just outside the gym.
Dugger Elementary and Union High School will conduct a Veterans Day program at 2:15 p.m. on Nov. 11 in the high school gym.
Special guest speaker will be a representative of the U.S. Army and patriotic music will also be featured, noted Carrie LaVallie, music teacher at the school.
"The band will play and the choir will sing during the program," she added. "Three poems will also be read by students."
Metropolitan School District of Shakamak will host its 22nd annual Veterans Day program at 9:30 a.m. on Nov. 11 at the high school gym.
Col. Tim Warrick will be the guest speaker, noted a school press release.
Shakamak's ceremony will honor all veterans, firefighters, law enforcement officers and emergency response personnel. Refreshments for all honored guests will follow the event.
White River Valley Lyons Elementary will host its Veterans Day program at 1 p.m. on Nov. 11 in the school gym.
Look for a guest speaker as well as a slide presentation featuring local veterans during the event. Photos for the slide presentation will be brought in by students.
White River Valley Worthington Elementary will have its program at 10 a.m. on Nov. 11 in the school gym. Guest speaker will be Dan Owen -- who resides in Worthington.
All school ceremonies are open to the public and to all area veterans.
