Trio of GOP senate candidates to debate in Sullivan

Thursday, October 29, 2009
SULLIVAN -- Sullivan will be the site of a debate next month that features three Republicans looking to challenge two-term incumbent Indiana Democrat U.S. Senator Evan Bayh in the 2010 General Election.

Richmond financial advisor Don Bates, Jr., State Senator Marlin Stutzman of Howe and Fishers businessman Richard Behney will discuss issues and their campaigns at the Sullivan County Fairgrounds on Saturday, Nov. 14.

The event is being conducted as a fundraiser by the 8th District Republican Party organization and is being co-chaired by Greene County GOP Party Vice Chairman Pam Yoho and Sullivan County GOP Chairman Bill Springer.

"This debate will focus on three extremely qualified Republican candidates, as members of the audience pose their questions," Yoho told the Greene County Daily World.

Bayh, a former two-term Indiana governor, was first elected to the Senate in 1998 and then elected to a second six-year term in November 2004.

Former Petersburg Mayor Randy Harris will moderate the debate.

Tickets to the debate are $15.

Tickets to the debate and a reception from 5-6 p.m. are $50 each.
