The outage is scheduled from 3-5 a.m. and will allow work to be done on the city's substations.
"It's emergency maintenance to the substations. We have to re-do some lines," explained Nick House, who serves as the supervisor of Linton's Electric Department.
The outage will hopefully work around the schedules of most residents and businesses, he noted.
"Hopefully it's convenient for everybody," he added, noting only a few local businesses are open at that time.
Look for another scheduled outage in a couple of months.
"Probably within 60 days we'll have another one," House said.
But that will depend on Duke Energy, he added.
The next outage will also be for routine maintenance and it will allow Duke Energy to install new equipment.
Overall the city's electrical infrastructure is working fine.
"The substations are OK ... everything else is good," House added.

is this the same Sunday we put our clocks back an hour??? if it is better let people know, it will be confusing enough with the clocks going back and then with the power outage>..
Yeah, the timing seems like it could be a little better.
Well what more could you expect.
It's that socialized power utility.
What foolish president was it who socialized our power utilities ?
How long will it be before they put the capitalists out of business or cause skyrocketing energy prices?
Well that was satire, for you neo-Cons, republi-Cons, and those of you who watch the Fuax News Netowrk who don't know it when you see it.
Fire, Police, Electric, Water, Your current Health Insurance, Your current Auto Insurance, Your Road and Highway System, Medicare, Medicade, Your broadband connection, Social Security, Your private retirement plan or pension, all socialized.
So tell me what could be so bad about socialized medicine ?
The Linton City Utilities are envied nation wide for their quaility and low cost. Maintainence is the key to keeping quality up and cost low.
Dont knock socialized services, it is a proven fact right here at home that they work.
UH...... I have to go to work on Monday. I wont be up to reset my alarm. Dont you think Saturday or Friday would be better????? I don't mind the maintenance. It has to be done of course, however; please think about the day.
thank you!
To redbird08: If you have to be at work on Monday, a power outage Sunday morning would not affect you. If you go to church however, the outage might really mess you up.
