William R. "Dink" Rooksberry

William R. "Dink" Rooksberry, 70, of Bucktown, passed away at 12:33 a.m. Saturday October 24, 2009 at Millers Merry Manor in Sullivan.

He was born in Sullivan County on Oct. 2, 1939, the son of William Lee Rooksberry and Helen Clark Rooksberry.

He was a retired coal miner from Peabody Coal Mine.

He was preceded in death by his parents, also two sisters, Katherine Ellis and Martha Rooksberry.

Survivors include his wife, Carol Alsman Rooksberry; three sons, Gary Rooksberry (Elizabeth) of Pleasantville, Michael Rooksberry (Beth) of Terre Haute, and Russell Rooksberry of Bucktown; one brother Robert Rooksberry of Carlisle; and two sisters, Mildred Fuller of Connersville, and Margaret Savage of Plainfield; eight grandchildren, David, Sarah, Amanda, Rachel, Rilee, Joshua, Megan, and Katie, and two great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Newkirk's Funeral Home with Pastor Lorene Mejean officiating. Interment in the Woodward Cemetery.
