Anderson faces preliminary charges

Shannon R. Anderson, 27, Linton, was arrested Friday after the Division of Family and Children's Services (DFC) received a report that marijuana was growing and being used inside his residence.

Following a visit to the home, Anderson was taken into custody by Linton Police Officer Deb McDonald and booked into the Greene County Jail where he was being held without bond pending an appearance in court.

Late Monday, preliminary charges filed against Anderson in Greene Circuit Court included possession of methamphetamine, a class D felony; maintaining a common nuisance, a class D felony; and possession of marijuana, a class A misdemeanor.

According to a probable cause affidavit written by Officer McDonald, a caseworker from DFC rode with McDonald to visit the home located on RR 4 in Linton.

When they arrived, they were asked to come in and were given permission to look around.

The affidavit states no questionable items were observed in any of the rooms except Anderson's bedroom where they found several items including a metal tin and plastic sandwich bags containing material that field-tested positive for marijuana. They also found items with burnt residue that field-tested positive for methamphetamine, a glass smoking device and numerous other items of paraphernalia which were photographed then destroyed.

Indiana State Police Trooper Byron Goodman also responded to the scene and at one point started to read Miranda Rights to two women who lived in the home but Anderson stopped him and said it was all his.

The affidavit indicates there were minors also living in the home.
