Look for a duo to represent Owensburg as the grand marshals for the annual 2009 Founder's Day parade Saturday.

Billy and Kathleen Combs are already located in the center of the traditional festival so why not be the grand marshals?

Kathleen explained, "We're right in the middle of everything that goes on. ... We turn over the house and yard for everything they want to do."

The Combs' Main Street home also serves as the center for the pie baking contest.

"We've had a pie contest at our house for the past five or six years," Kathleen explained.

But neither participate in the contest.

"Some of our Shriner friends are judges," she added.

Kathleen has resided in Owensburg since 1962.

"My husband (Billy) and I have been married 22 years and he's been (living) here since '87," she explained.

Both are retired from Crane and Billy is also retired from the U.S. Army.

The couple devotes a lot of time to the Shrine Club.

Billy explained, "We've been in the Shrine since 1994. The Shrine is all about taking care of handicapped children. There are 23 hospitals and two burn centers and now the Shrine has branched out now into birth defects."

Billy and Kathleen aren't strangers to parades as they both participate in several as Shriners.

As for being grand marshals in the Owensburg Founder's Day parade, Billy said, "I'm looking forward to it."

The parade will kick off at 2 p.m. on Saturday.
