Lady Cardinals top Union (Dugger)

Bloomfield had a season-high 22 aces as the Lady Cardinals defeated visiting Union (Dugger) 25-14, 25-9, 25-6 in a Southwestern Indiana Athletic Conference high school volleyball match at Guy Glover Gymnasium Monday night.

The Lady Cardinals improved to 5-14, 1-4 in the SWIAC. Union (Dugger) slipped to 0-13, 0-4.

Shelby Gott was 18 of 19 serving, finishing with 17 points and nine aces.

"Shelby really did a nice job of serving," said Bloomfield coach Susie Schulte.

Kari Schulte was 7 of 7, which led to five points and one ace.

Ariel Fuller made 10 of 10, good for eight points and a pair of aces.

Holly Zschiedrich finished with eight points and three aces as she made 9 of 11 attempts on serve.

Hallie Retseck missed once in seven attempts, collecting four points and an ace.

Sarah Scott made 9 of 11, scoring eight points and five aces. Kendra Spelts had four points and three aces on 6-for-7 serving.

Schulte (11) and Spelts (nine) combined for 20 assists.

Taylor Gilmore (three), Letitia Poe (one), Elyse Weddle (nine), Cariena Rosalez (one) and Scott (six) teamed up for 20 kills.

Weddle had one block while Scott, Rosalez and Weddle each had one dig.

The Lady Bulldogs were led by Jessica Davidson, who was 7 of 9 serving with one dig.

Taylor Bedwell was 1 of 1 on serve while Tori Martindale made 1 of 2 serves and had one dig.

Conner Kendall added one dig, one kill and made 1 of 3 attempts on serve.

Katelyn Lewis was 4 of 4 serving with one dig and Courteney Collins missed her only attempt on serve.

Union (Dugger) will play at Oblong, Ill. at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Sept. 28 in another varsity-only contest. Bloomfield will host Eastern Greene Tuesday. The jv match will begin at 6 p.m.
