The police agencies along with fire and ambulance personnel arrived to find a male victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. The victim had made his way on foot to the nearby residence, seeking help after allegedly being shot at 1976 S. CR 375 E.
Officers then located the alleged shooter and his estranged wife at the 1976 S. 375 E residence. The suspect refused requests by law enforcement to surrender and/or release the woman. The home was then surrounded by members of the Indiana State Police Emergency Response Team and telephone negotiations began between the suspect and crisis negotiators from the Indiana State Police and Clay County Sheriff's Office. After nearly two hours of negotiations, the wife was released unharmed. Negotiations continued for another 90 minutes and around 12:10 p.m., the suspect exited the home without incident. He was taken into custody and transported to the Clay County Justice Center.
Preliminary investigation revealed the estranged husband arrived at the residence to discover his wife with another man. The husband then allegedly shot the visiting male friend multiple times with a small caliber rifle.
The arrested was Matthew Alan Aubrey, 25, of Centerpoint. He was initially charged with Aggravated Battery, B felony; Battery with a Deadly Weapon, C felony and Criminal Recklessness, D felony. His bond was set at $250,000, no 10%.
The victim was airlifted to Wishard Hospital in Indianapolis by Air Evac for treatment of multiple gunshot wounds to his torso. He was identified as Frank Ford, 34, of Terre Haute. He is currently admitted to Wishard Hospital and his injuries are not life threatening.
The investigation is ongoing and additional charges may develop.

They were assisted at the scene by the ISP Emergency Response Team; ISP Hostage Crisis Negotiators Team; Clay County Sheriff Mike Heaton and deputies; Clay County Prosecutor Lee Reberger; Indiana Conservation Officers, Brazil Police Department; Centerpoint Fire Department and Trans Care EMS.
