"The kids played a great game," said Miner coach Brian Oliver. "We had some kids injured and a lot of kids were playing out of position.
"I was really proud of them."
Oliver commended the play of Dess Fougerousse, who caught three passes for 35 yards. He also hauled in a two-point conversion pass.
He also had two interceptions, including a 46-yarder for a touchdown at the end of the third quarter. He also tackled the West Vigo punter in the end zone for a safety.
"Dess had an awesome game on both sides of the ball," said Oliver.
Cole Bradbury only played the first series and tallied 50 yards on four rushes, including a 6-yard touchdown. He left the game after hurting his knee, Oliver said.
Abram Neff finished with 88 yards on the ground in nine attempts. He had TD runs of 6 and 10 yards and also rushed for a two-point conversion.
Quarterback Hayden Flath connected with Caleb Burns on a 40-yard touchdown pass in the first half. He also threw two, two-point passes, one to Fougerousse and one to Burns.
Flath completed 5 of 6 passes for 77 yards in his first appearance at QB this season.
"Hayden played well in his first time at quarterback this year," said Oliver.
Burns had two receptions for 42 yards.
Dylanne Deischer kicked one extra point.
The Miners (2-0) are scheduled to host Eastern Greene Tuesday.
