Flags going up

The Linton City Fire Department carried on a patriotic tradition early Wednesday morning. American flags -- 250 of them --were erected along the major thoroughfare roads in Linton in preparation for Saturday's Freedom Festival Parade. Here, Linton firefighter Eric Carpenter prepares to place one of the flags in a bracket. Driving the truck is fellow firefighter Brad Sparks, who is heading up the project. During holidays and special occasions, the flags are displayed on A Street from the railroad tracks, near 5th Street, to Super Walmart and on Main Street from the railroad tracks, near Save-A-Lot, to Linton-Stockton school.

I love seeing all the flags up when driving up and down the streets/roads.
They look fantastic! Thanks for putting them up!!
Thanks guys! The flags look awsome when you drive through town! Happy Independence Day to all!
THE AMERICAN FLAG SHOULD BE LEFT UP ALL YEAR ROUND.
I totally agree with you, donr6477.
donr6477, that would be a nice touch only one problem...if you read up on proper flag etiquette then you would know tha is not a proper display of the flag as it should not be left out in the rain...otherwise it would be nice to see them year round..
Actually, if they are all weather flags, they could be displayed daily even in the rain...

§6. Time and occasions for display
It is the universal custom to display the flag only from sunrise to sunset on buildings and on stationary flagstaffs in the open.
However, when a patriotic effect is desired, the flag may be displayed twenty-four hours a day if properly illuminated during the hours of darkness.
The flag should be hoisted briskly and lowered ceremoniously.
The flag should not be displayed on days when the weather is inclement, except when an all-weather flag is displayed.
The flag should be displayed on all days, especially on
New Year's Day, January 1
Inauguration Day, January 20
Martin Luther King Jr.'s birthday, third Monday in January
Lincoln's Birthday, February 12
Washington's Birthday, third Monday in February

It is a wonderful feeling seeing our American flags waving. I think it's great how many more flags were added this year. Thank-You so much.
The flags looked very good. They make me happy to drive down the road and them all. A big THANKS GOES TO OPIE WALL AND DOUG HALL for the hanging of them. You guys are great. May god bless both of you.
