When Linton Police Cpl. Paul Clark investigated and spoke to two people involved in the incident, he reported an argument ended in a physical altercation between Starnes and a female.
The victim said Starnes battered her and threatened her regarding calling the police. The female then left and notified police.
The police report states the victim had visible signs of injury.
According to the police report, Starnes denied any involvement in a battery and claimed the victim fell because she was intoxicated.
Starnes was arrested without incident and transported to the Greene County Jail where he was booked in on preliminary charges of battery resulting in bodily injury and intimidation, both class A misdemeanors.
Starnes was released from jail after posting $2,000 bond. He is scheduled to appear in court for an initial hearing on July 3.
LPD Officer Heath Murray also assisted with the case.
