Bloomfield man dies in high-speed car crash

Monday, June 29, 2009

A high-speed car crash on a county road in Center Township in eastern Greene County claimed the life of 23-year-old Bloomfield man on Sunday evening.

Seth D. Lavender suffered massive internal injuries as a result of the crash and was pronounced dead on the scene by Deputy Coroner Dave Rollison.

Greene County Sheriff's Deputy Rick Marques said the crash occurred on County Road 1100E approximately 1/8 mile north of State Road 43 at 7:46 p.m.

According to information released from the Sheriff's Department, Lavender was southbound on the county road in a 1997 Chevrolet Cavalier when he lost control of the car.

Deputy Marques reported that witnesses said the driver was traveling at a high rate of speed then lost control.

Marques said the car started to slide then rolled over multiple times, then struck a power pole, then landed on its left side.

The driver was partially ejected from the vehicle.

Lavender's body was transported to Greene County General Hospital by the E-1 unit of the Greene County Ambulance Service.

The Center Township Volunteer Fire Department also responded to assist on the scene.
