BREAKING NEWS: Jasonville man airlifted to Indianapolis hospital following wreck near Midland

Thursday, June 25, 2009

A 30-year-old Jasonville man sustained serious head injuries in a single-vehicle crash Thursday evening on County Road 700N, west of State Road 59 in Wright Township.

Joshua Dickey was transferred to Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis following treatment at Greene Count General Hospital at Linton.

Friday morning, he was listed in 'critical condition' in the adult critical care unit, according to a hospital spokesperson.

Dickey was driving a 2004 Mitsubishi Galant eastbound on County Road 700N when he for some unknown reason left the roadway and struck a utility pole head-on about 6:18 p.m., according to a report issued by Greene County Sheriff's Department Deputy Eric Shane Smith.

Dickey was entrapped in the vehicle and had to be extricated by crews from the Wright Township, Jasonville and the Linton fire departments.

After the driver was freed he was transported by Greene County Ambulance to the Wright Township Fire Station at Midland where he was transferred to the Lifeline medical helicopter and flown to Greene County General. He was later transferred to the Indianapolis hospital.

Also assisting at the scene were personnel from the Jasonville Police Department.
