Phyllis E. Hiatt

Phyllis E. Hiatt, 92, of Dugger, passed away at 1:45 p.m. Wednesday, June 3, 2009 at Sullivan County Community Hospital.

She was born in Dugger, Feb. 21, 1917, the daughter of Lewis Beck and Alice Borders Beck.

Phyllis married Earl "Curly Hiatt on June 17, 1938.

She was a member of the Bethel Community Church in Dugger.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Earl "Curly" Hiatt in 1984; one son, Francis "Gene" Hiatt; two sisters, Frances Grontkowski and Anna Mae Norris; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Survivors include one son, Paul Hiatt (Nancy) of Linton; three daughters, Sandra Strickland of Georgia, Earlena Mason (Bill), and Karen Franklin (Eddie), all of Linton; 12 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; and 19 great-great grandchildren.

Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Newkirk's Funeral Home in Dugger with Rev. Cletus Bough officiating.

Burial in the Dugger Cemetery.

Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Friday and before services Saturday.
