She was born Oct. 22, 1915, in Greene County, the daughter of Charles P. and Nellie (Courtney) Trotter.
She worked as a registered nurse at Riley Children's Hospital in Indianapolis, at a hospital in Terre Haute, at Freeman Greene County Hospital in Linton and at Lakeview Memorial Hospital in Danville, Ill. She was a member of the Linton First United Methodist Church, the Greene County General Hospital Ladies Auxiliary, serving as a Pink Lady and the Order of Eastern Star in Oakland City. She graduated from Indiana University in Indianapolis in 1939 with a degree in nursing, ran a maternity hospital during World War II in Oakland City, taught practical nursing at Danville Community College in Danville, Illinois, was Director of Nursing in a nursing home in southern, Illinois and was an avid reader.
Survivors include a son, John H. (Rita) Risher of Livingston, Tx.; a daughter, Margaret Anne (Jim) Boggess of Woodstock, Georgia; three grandsons, David Risher of Elk River, Minn., Corey Boggess of Woodstock, Ga., and Scott Boggess of Acworth, Ga.; and two great-grandchildren, Kayla and Riley Boggess.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Harold M. Risher, Nov. 28, 1984, two sisters, Edna Mae Hensley and Ava Cooprider; and two brothers, Jim Trotter and Kenneth Trotter.
Funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 6, at Welch & Cornett Funeral Home in Linton with Rev. Michael Alexander officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Linton.
Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Friday and at 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
