Party With the Bunny

The Bloomfield Tri-Kappa will host its annual Party with the Bunny event Saturday from 9:30 until 11:30 a.m. in the Community Room at the 4-H Fairgrounds. Cost is $3 for each child and $1 for adults. Games, picture with the Bunny, food and door prizes will be featured.

Flower and Patio Show April 25-26

The Fifth Annual Greene County Master Gardener's Flower and Patio Show will conducted April 25-26 at the Greene County Fairgounds. The show will be open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on April 25 and 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. April 26. Admission is free. The show features vendors, demonstrations, plant sale, food, free trees, raffle. The fairgrounds is located one mile east of Switz City on State Road 54.

Greene County Humane Society

The Greene County Humane Society has a few Shop-A-Thon Coupon Books remaining from its fundraiser. Booklets are $44.95 or save $5 each when you buy two or more.

Center Township Advisory Board to meet

The Center Township Advisory Board will meet in special session at 7 p.m. on April 15 at the Center Township Fire Station.

Northeast School Board to meet

The Northeast Sullivan School Board will meet in executive session at 6:30 p.m. and in regular session at 7:30 p.m. on Monday at the administrative building in Hymera.

Lyons Community Easter services

Lyons United Methodist will host Lyons Community Easter services at 7 a.m. on Sunday.

Burris Chapel Cemetery

The Burris Chapel board members will meet at 7 p.m. on April 23 to discuss the upkeep of the cemetery. The meeting will be at the residence of Rodney Walker.

Greene-Sullivan Special Ed Cooperative

The Greene-Sullivan Special Education Cooperative will meet in executive session to discuss confidential student records, information about prospective employees at 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday with the regular meeting to follow at 10 a.m. in the conference room at 77 "A" St., NE, Linton.

1960-70 Linton-Stockton class reunion

The deadline for advanced tickets to the LSHS 1960-70 class reunion has been extended to May 1. Advance tickets are $20 person. Tickets at the door are $30 per person. The reunion will be July 3 at the Linton Elks. Pancake and sausage day

The Sandborn Volunteer Fire Department will hold its annual pancake and sausage day from 11:30 a.m. - 2 p.m. April 19. Tickets are $4 for adults and $2 for children 5 - 12 years of age and children under 5 eat free. All proceeds go to the purchase of a new rescue saw.

CGCMA Easter Sunrise Service Changes Location

The Community Easter Sunrise service, sponsored by the Central Greene County Ministerial Association, has been changed Originally scheduled for the First Presbyterian Church, the service will now be held at First Baptist Bloomfield, located at 500 Lincoln Drive. The service is set for 7 a.m. to be followed by a full breakfast in the church's Fellowship Hall. For more information, call 384-8459.

Hendricksville Area Association

The Hendricksville Area Association will meet at 7 p.m. Monday, April 13 in the Hendricksville Community Center. The association will also sponsor a blood drive from 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. April 18 at the community building.

Bloomfield NARFE

Bloomfield NARFE will have a 11:30 a.m. lunch and a 12:30 p.m. meeting Tuesday at Stoll's in Linton. All retirees and guests are welcome to attend.

Recycling trailer

Greene County Solid Waste District's mobile recycling trailer will be in Lyons by town hall today through noon Wednesday, April 15. It will be moved to Owensburg the following week.

Closures

The Recycling Center will be closed Saturday and will resume normal hours on Monday.

Anchored in Faith Ministries

Anchored in Faith Ministries will present "The Living Lord's Supper" at 7 p.m. today and Sunday. This event is free and open to the public. The church is located at State Road 59 between Linton and Jasonville.

Citizen's Academy graduation Thursday

Horse and Pony fundraiser

Greene County 4-H Horse and Pony Club will hold an auction and soup supper April 18 at the 4-H Fairgrounds. Cost is $ 5 for adults and $4 for 12 and under. Soup supper starts at 4:30 p.m. and auction starts at 6 p.m.

Bethel Community Church

Bethel Community Church in Dugger will hold Easter Sunday sunrise services at 7 a.m. with a free breakfast to follow. The church is located just south of Dugger on State Road 159.

Chicken noodle dinner

The Shelburn Church of God will hold a chicken noodle fundraiser from noon to 4 p.m. April 18. Cost is $6 for those 12 years of age and up and $3 for those under 11 years of age.

Nationwide Web cast

Bloomfield First Christian Church will host a live nationwide Web cast of Town Hall for Hope The Economy, Your Money, Real Answers With Dave Ramsey at 8 p.m. Thursday, April 23. Everyone is invited to this free event. The church is located at the corner of Spring and Jefferson Streets.

County Pride Day

Friends of Goose Pond will again co-sponsor County Pride Day this year and volunteers are needed. Greene County Pride day will take place Saturday from 8 a.m. - noon. Volunteers will meet at the pole barn -- which is located about two miles south of Linton on State Road 59 (just at the west end of the eastern most curve of the highway). Volunteers can pre-register by calling the Greene County Foundation at 659-3142 Volunteers should dress for the weather of the day. Waterproof boots are recommended. Orange vests, work gloves, coffee and donuts will be provided.

Worthington Garden Club

The Worthington Garden Club will auction a large selection of healthy starts (perennials, annuals, herbs, trees, ground covers, garden décor and more) from 10 a.m. - noon April 25 in the Worthington Park Community Building. The Cornerstone Church in Switz City will hold special services at 7 p.m. today and at 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. on Easter Sunday.

L-S kindergarten enrollment

It is time to pre-enroll students for the 2009/2010 Linton kindergarten classes. During the month of April, school staff will need to know the names of those students who will be taking the kindergarten screening in May. Children who will be five 5- years old on or before Aug. 1 may take the screening which will be given in the kindergarten rooms in the elementary school on Tuesday, May 19. As pre-enrollment information is received, each child will be given an appointment time to come in for screening. Anyone who needs a pre-enrollment form should contact the elementary school office. Fish fry April 18

The Marco United Methodist Church located off of State Highway 67, will host the semi-annual spring fish fry on Saturday, April 18 starting at 4 p.m. The fish fry is a buffet all-you-can-eat meal consisting of fried pollock fish, homemade potato salad, baked beans, cole slaw and homemade dessert. Cost is $7 for adults and children (under 12) $4. A new stair lift has been installed for easy access to the basement. After the meal, there will be gospel singing for your enjoyment in the church upstairs.

Switz City Town Council change

The Switz City Town Council will meet Monday at 6:30 p.m. at town hall. The meeting was rescheduled because of the death of council president Don Blanton.

Croonin' for Crohn's

On April 18 at Schafer Auditorium in Bedford, host of Southern Indiana's finest musical performers will step on the stage at 8 p.m. for the 3rd annual "Croonin' for Crohn's." You won't want to miss the outstanding entertainment provided by acclaimed oldies group, Forever Gold; Mr. Taggert; Andrew Hartman's Funtime Band, and Dame's Rocket. Other performers include JoAnna Kai Cobb, Lisa Higgins, Brandon Pfeiffer, Stephen Roberts, Teresa McCameron, Gordon Lowry, Shawna Girgis, Mike Pugh, Daniel Main, Jack Hamilton. Trinity Lutheran Church in Linton will hold Easter breakfast from 8:15 - 8:45 a.m. followed by Sunday School and worship. A youth Easter egg hunt will follow the services.

Sheriff's Merit Board

The Greene County Sheriff's Merit Board will meet at 7 p.m. Monday in the conference room at the Greene County Jail. The jail is located at 204 County Road 70 East, at the edge of Bloomfield.

Tobacco cessation class starts April 16

A tobacco cessation class will be on Thursday evenings from April 16 -- June 4 from 6 - 8 p.m. in the conference room at Greene County General Hospital. Free Nicotine Replacement Therapy (patches or gum) will be made available to class participants for the duration of the class, courtesy of the Greene County Public Health Department. You must register in advance to participate. Class facilitator Chris Sparks, R.N., is a certified tobacco cessation counselor through Community Intervention, Inc. and Clarian Tobacco Control Center (Clarian Health Partners). The classes are a collaborative effort of the Greene County Tobacco Prevention Coalition, Greene County Home Health Care, Greene County General Hospital, and Greene County Health Department. FSSA Mobile Application Station

The FSSA (Family and Social Services Administration) Mobile Application Station will be available from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. on April 17 at Angell's Food Center parking lot in Linton.

RCA/GE/Thomson Luncheon

The semi-annual buffet luncheon for RCA/GE/Thomson retirees association members, former employees and guests will be April 23 from 10:30 a.m. - 3 p.m. at the Indiana University Hoosier room located under the west side of the IU Football Stadium. Koleen Union Church will host Easter Sunrise Service on Sunday at 7 a.m. with breakfast to follow. Sunday School will begin at 9 a.m., and there will be no 10:30 a.m. service.

Worthington to consider sewer rate increase

The Worthington Town Council will discuss the possibility of an increase in residential sewer rates at the next regular monthly meeting at 7 p.m. on April 14. The meeting is open to the public.

Domestic violence training for volunteers

The Middle Way House will host a domestic violence training for volunteers from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. on April 18 at the First United Methodist Church in Bloomington -- 219 E. 4th St.

Salvation Army meeting

Shakamak class of 1967 to meet

The 1967 Shakamak High School graduates should mark Sept. 25 on their calendars as a 60th birthday celebration is planned. The catered dinner/party will be at Shakamak State Park's log cabin starting at 4 p.m. with dinner scheduled for 6:30 p.m. The cost of the dinner will be $9 per person. End Times Study

The Calvary Baptist Church will host a series of studies of the Revelation of Jesus Christ beginning at 7 p.m. on April 15 with Pastor H. Eugene Riker instructing. Lebanon Cemetery

Spring clean-up at Lebanon Cemetery has begun. Graves should be cleared off by Saturday. Items may remain on the stone but decorations not removed from the grave will be disposed of.

Eastern Greene kindergarten round-up

Eastern Greene kindergarten round-up is from 12:15 - 4:15 p.m. on April 15 and from 12:15 - 3:15 p.m. on April 16. Your child must be 5 years old on or before Aug. 1 to attend kindergarten this fall. Appointments are now being made by calling the elementary office at 825-5623 extension 225. Appointments will be an hour in length. All current kindergartners will be dismissed at 11:30 a.m. on April 15, 16 due to kindergarten round-up.

Blessed Hope special days

Blessed Hope will hold its Easter Sunday services on Sunday and a "Family and Friends" special service on April 19 -- which also kicks off spring revival. Revival is from April 19 - 22 with guest preachers, Dr. Ed Johnson, Pastor Tim Russ, and Evangelist Chris Stansell. Blessed Hope Baptist Church is located just south of Jasonville on State Road 59. Peavey Cemetery

Spring clean-up for the Peavey Cemetery is underway. Wreaths and other such winter decorations need to be removed prior to this date. Memorial decorations that interfere with mowing should be removed prior to June 15.

Miniature golf fundraiser

Friends for Kids of Daviess County will be host its annual Miniature Golf Tournament on April 25 at Putter's Bay course in Washington. There will be a shotgun start at 10 a.m. with several prizes. This is the annual fundraiser for the organization that mentors children of Daviess County. Admission is $10 for adults and $8 for children. Greene County Republican Party

"An Evening with Lincoln" will be hosted by the Greene County Republican party April 30 at the 4-H fairgrounds. At 5:30 p.m. a reception will kick-off the event and will be followed by dinner, a silent auction and the program. Guest speaker is Lonn Pressnall, a professor at the University of Illinois, who has 40 years experience with Lincoln presentations. WRV kindergarten enrollment

White River Valley Lyons and Worthington Elementary School will conduct kindergarten enrollment April 17. At Worthington, pre-enrollment will be alphabetically by last name on the day of enrollment. 1 p.m. -- Last name beginning with "A" through "M", and 2 p.m. -- Last name beginning with "N" through "Z." Lyons pre-enrollment will be anytime between noon and 2 p.m. on the day of enrollment.

Kindergarten round-up

Shakamak Elementary School will conduct kindergarten round-up April 21 from 9 a.m. - noon, 1 p.m. - 2:30 p.m., and 4 - 5 p.m. Children who are 5 years old on or before Aug. 1 are eligible for enrollment. Kindergarten packets are available in the elementary office. Packets should be picked up prior to round-up.

Eastern Heights Utilities

Eastern Heights Utilities will flush water hydrants in town limits April 13-17 with the rural area hydrants being flushed next. Customers may experience discoloration during this time.

Bible-based meeting at FLC

A Bible-based meeting at the Family Life Center on the east side of the courthouse square in Bloomfield will take place on Wednesday nights from 7:30 - 8:30 p.m. It is offering a 90-day workbook called "A Daily Choice" by Overcomers Recovery Support for overcoming life controlling problems. Easter egg hunt in Dugger

The Dugger-Cass Volunteer Fire Department will sponsor its annual Easter Egg Hunt today at Union High School. The hunt starts at 2 p.m. and is for ages 0-12 years.

Youth Gobbler scouting event

A youth gobbler scouting event will be from 6:30 a.m. - noon Saturday at Minnehaha FWA, Hillenbrand FWA, Chinook FWA and Fairbanks Landing FWA. Youth will be able to scout for turkeys on all four properties and can return to Minnehaha office for special activities that will include hunting safety, strategies, and wild turkey biology. Reserved youth turkey hunt

A reserved youth turkey hunt will be April 18 and 19. Sign-up is now through Friday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Minnehaha office to hunt at Minnehaha FWA, Hillenbrand FWA, Chinook FWA, or Fairbanks Landing FWA. A limited number of youth hunters will be allowed to hunt on each property per day.

Fairview Cemetery clean-up

Fairview Cemetery clean-up is now underway. The city of Linton asks that all flowers, wreaths, hangers, hooks, etc. be removed from the graves. Only those attached to the stone will be kept. To retrieve any decorations contact Cemetery Superintendent Larry Fulford. Items will be taken to the caretaker office area for your convenience.
