She was born in Sullivan County, Feb. 5, 1930, the daughter of Christopher Chubb and Maggie Bedwell Chubb.
Doris was a member of the Pleasantville First United Methodist Church. She graduated from Union High School in Dugger in 1948, was a member of the Hymera Helpers Home Ec Club, a former Precinct Committeeman of Jefferson Township and was a member of the Sullivan County Democrats
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, George Robert Jackson in 1999; four brothers, Clarence (Red) Chubb, Raymond (Buck) Chubb, Jack Chubb, Jim Chubb; and one sister, Mildred Cole.
Survivors include two sons; John Cox (Tina) of Dugger and James Cox (Cathy) of Linton; three daughters, Portia Swiger of Dugger, Marsha Turpin of Carlisle, Daphne Bargar (Denny) of Dugger; two step-sons; Randall Jackson of North Carolina, George Robert Jackson II of Corydon; four step-daughters, Janice Groves of Vincennes, Linda Lucas (David) of Warsaw, Roberta Mejean of Linton, and Kimberly Jackson of Jasonville, 23 grandchildren; and several great and great-great grandchildren.
Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, April 7, 2009 at the Pleasantville First United Methodist Church with Pastor Norman Santus and Pastor Dwight Gould officiating.
Burial will follow in the Pleasantville Cemetery.
Friends may call from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Monday at Newkirk's Funeral Home in Dugger.
