Born June 8, 1921 in Greene County, he was the son of Dexter and Blanche (Bender) Heaton.
He was retired as a self-employed farmer. He was a member of Faith Christian Church. He served as an elder for 35 years at Worthington Christian Church. He was a member of the drainage board, the FHA board, and formerly a member of the Lion's Club.
Surviving relatives include: his wife, Velma (Need) Heaton whom he married September 11, 1943; one daughter, Linda Robertson of Bloomfield; one son, Glenn Alan Heaton of Sweetster; one brother, John Heaton of Shelbyville; three sisters, Martha Glover, Marjorie McIntyre, and Lois Kirchoff all of Bloomfield; his grandchildren, Neil, Kyle, Jennifer, Stacy, and Rachel; and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Audrey Heaton.
Funeral service will be conducted 11 a.m. Wednesday, January 28, 2009 at Jenkins & Sons Funeral Home in Bloomfield, with Brother Henry Mann Jr. and Rev. Mark Kirchoff officiating. Interment will be in Grandview Cemetery in Bloomfield.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
