He was born in Linton on May 16, 1927, the son of Percie E. & Goldie C. (Lynch) Goodson.
He was a United States Army veteran of World War II. He retired after serving on the Linton Fire Department for 20 years, and also worked for Haseman's Pest Control & the Phil Harris Golf Course.
He was a member of the Linton Masonic Lodge #560 and the Scottish Rite of Terre Haute.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Vera June (Combs) Goodson of Linton, a daughter, Lee Anna (Steve) Walker of Muncie, two sons, Bobby (Rosalie)Goodson of Lyons & Dickie Wayne Goodson of Linton, six grandchildren, Craig, Clayton, Bethany, Lindsey, Zach, & Dylan, and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a great-grandson, Christopher Kohlman; one sister; and two step-brothers.
Funeral service will be at the Welch & Cornett Funeral Home in Linton at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2009, with Rev. David Atkins officiating. Burial will follow at the Pleasant Grove Cemetery near Lyons, with military graveside rites by the Linton American Legion Post #22.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. on Monday with a Masonic Service at 7:00 p.m. and Tuesday from 1 p.m. until the time of service.
