Amel T. and Therese Stevens

Amel T.,80 and Therese Stevens, 79, of Worthington, passed away, Amel, 4:45 p.m. Thursday, January 15, 2009 and Therese, passed away 4:10 a.m., Friday, January 16, 2009, both at Bloomington Hospital.

Amel was born Oct. 24, 1928, in Delaware County to Amel and Louisa (Wilksman) Stevens, Therese was born April 1, 1929, in Amberg, Germany.

Amel and Therese were married Dec. 28, 1954 in Germany while Amel was in the Army. They were married for 54 years.

Amel was in the U.S. Army for 20 years, and worked in supply at NSWC Crane for 16 years, Therese was a homemaker.

They are survived by friends and caregivers, Roger & Kathy Creager of Worthington. Therese is survived by a sister, Gunda Braun of Austria; and a niece.

They were preceded in death by their parents.

Funeral service for Amel and Therese will be conducted at Welch & Cornett Funeral Home in Worthington, at 1p.m. Monday, Jan. 19, 2009, with Bro. Roman Graber officiating.

Friends may call at Welch & Cornett from noon Monday until time of service.

Burial will be in Worthington Cemetery.

Military graveside rites will be conducted for Amel.
