The preliminary charges filed against both individuals in Greene Superior Court on Monday included conspiracy to commit dealing in methamphetamine, a class B felony, and possession of chemical reagents or precursors with the intent to manufacture, a class D felony.
The two were arrested after purchasing items used to manufacture methamphetamine at two different stores in Linton.
According to the probable cause affidavits filed in both cases, the sight of police officers in the parking lot of one store led to an attempt to drop items purchased on the roadside. Nervousness also led Pierce to separate from Roberts and take off on foot in a different direction.
When Roberts drove off in a vehicle, police stopped to speak to Pierce after he unsuccessfully tried to avoid the officers.
After items were recovered from along the road, both were subsequently interviewed at the police station and arrested.
On Monday, both were being held without bond pending their appearances in court for initial hearings.
