Two reserve deputies with the Greene County Sheriff's Department escaped injury but a GCSD cruiser sustained major damage early Saturday during a run-in with a deer in eastern Greene County.
The driver of the 1997 Ford police cruiser was GCSD Reserve Deputy Bradley Richard, 33, Worthington. GCSD Reserve Deputy Mark Evans, 39, was a passenger.
The deputies were eastbound on State Road 54 west of County Road 900E in Center Township around 1:29 a.m. when the accident occurred.
A report issued by the Sheriff's Department states a deer ran into the path of the cruiser and the driver was unable to avoid a collision.
The Greene County Ambulance Service transported Evans to Greene County General Hospital for examination - he was released with no injury reported.
GCSD Deputy Chris McDonald responded to the scene and reported that the crash caused both airbags to deploy and caused major damage to the front end of the cruiser.
