State Road 59 -- south of Sandborn -- to be closed for bridge replacement project

Thursday, January 1, 2009
The Indiana Department of Transportation will be closing State Road 58 and State Road 59 -- south of Sandborn in Knox County -- for a bridge replacement starting Jan. 5.

The closures are needed to allow construction crews to replace the bridge on S.R. 58 over Black Creek and realign S.R. 59 near the S.R. 58 junction. The $1.8 million dollar contract for this work was awarded to C.L.R., Inc. of Vincennes during the October 2008 Letting.

Construction crews anticipate re-opening the roads on Sept. 5. Inclement weather may postpone the road closure and re-opening dates.

The official detour for this closure will re-route motorists along State Road 67 to State Road 358 to State Road 57.

INDOT reminds motorists to use caution and consider worker safety when driving through a highway construction zone. For the latest news and information about INDOT, please visit www.in.gov/indot .
