The National Weather Service in Indianapolis has issued a winter weather advisory in effect until 7 am Wednesday.
Tonight the forecast is for cloudy with light freezing rain, snow and light sleet likely. Then a chance of snow and light sleet after midnight. Little or no snow and sleet accumulation. Ice accumulation of up to one quarter of an inch. Nearly steady temperatures in the lower 20s.Southeast winds up to 10 mph shifting to the west
After midnight. Chance of precipitation is 60 percent.
UPDATED AT 7 P.M. TUESDAY
The Greene County Sheriff's Department reported numerous slide-offs and property damage traffic accidents associated with the wintry weather.
Freezing rain and sleet is reported throughout the county.
A dispatcher said "a few" people had been transported to area hospitals with what she called minor injuries.
She reported the department has been swamped for several hours with calls from motorists reporting roads that need attention of road crews.
Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT) and Greene County Highway Department have multiple crews out salting, sanding and treating the main roadways.
Everyone should stay at home during bad weather. Don't be rushing off to Wally World in a panic to get bread and milk. The storm will pass and the roads will be clear in a day. Stay home and play on the internet.
