Northeast School Board

The Northeast Sullivan School Board will meet in executive session at 6:30 p.m. and in regular session at 7:30 p.m. on Monday at the administrative building in Hymera.

Folsom Memorial United Methodist Church

Folsom Memorial United Methodist Church will host a "Longest Night Service" at 7 p.m. on Dec. 21 with the focus on those whose holiday celebrations are also seasons of loss and remembrance. Everyone is welcome. The church will also hold a Christmas Eve Candlelight Service at 9 p.m. on Dec. 24. The church is located at the corner of Main and Lafayette Streets in Worthington.

Greene County Council

The Greene County Council will meet at 4 p.m. on Dec. 15 in the commissioners room at the courthouse.

Lyons First Christian Church

Lyons First Christian Church will host a Christmas cantata service at 7 p.m. on Dec. 14. The public is welcome.

Greene County Humane Society

Greene County Humane Society's Annual Stuff a Stocking is now under way. Items needed for the animals include Chew Hides, toys, stuffed animals and treats. Cleaning supplies such as Pine-Sol, paper towels, baking soda and laundry soap are also needed.

Jasonville Lodge 530

Jasonville Lodge 530 F&AM will have work in the F.C. degree on Dec. 12. Dinner will be at 6 p.m. and work at 7 p.m. Visiting brethren are welcome.

Greene County General Hospital Auxiliary

The Greene County General Hospital Auxiliary has changed the date for its jewelry sale to Dec. 11 from 8 a.m. - 6 p.m. Scarves and children's items will also be available.

Superintendents Governing Board meeting

The Orange, Lawrence, Jackson, Martin and Greene superintendents governing board will meet for executive session at 9:30 a.m. on Dec. 10 at the joint service conference room in Bedford. An open session will follow at 10 a.m.

Shakamak Christmas concert

The Shakamak Music Department will present its Christmas concert at 2:30 p.m. on Dec. 14 in the high school cafeteria. Shakamak Choir Boosters will host a goodie walk during intermission with cookies and candies for sale. The choir boosters will also be selling chances to win several raffle items. Chances are $1 each or six for $5. Winners will be drawn after the performance. Door prizes will also be given away. No admission, but donations will be accepted.

Christmas cantata

First Baptist Bloomfield's Sanctuary Choir will present its annual Christmas cantata on Sunday at 6 p.m. in the church sanctuary. The cantata is titled "Holy Night Of Miracles" and features soloists Steve Clark as the Angel Gabriel, Bill Hudson as Joseph, and Brenda Pridemore as Mary. The narrator for the cantata is Charles Parker. The cantata is directed and accompanied by Andreas Metz and will be preceded by a concert featuring the Kingdom Kids children's choir. A reception will follow the cantata in the church's Christian Life Center. First Baptist is located at 500 Lincoln Drive. For more information call 384-8459.

Hendricksville Area Association

The Hendricksville Area Association will meet at 7 p.m. on Monday at the community building.

Live nativity scene

The Linton First Baptist Church will have a live nativity scene from 6 - 7 p.m. today. The church is located on State Road 54 East.

Delta Theta Tau Omicron Rho

Delta Theta Tau Omicron Rho is selling homemade chip beef, old English, cherry and cherry chocolate cheese balls for $5 each.

Lunch with Santa

The Delta Theta Tau Omicron Rho Chapter will sponsor lunch with Santa from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. today at the west shelterhouse at Humphreys Park in Linton. Lunch includes hot dogs, chips, cookies and a soda. Cost is $5 per child which also includes a photo with Santa. For tickets call 890-0100, 798-2465, 798-1636 or 890-1677.

Greene-Sullivan Special Education Cooperative

The Greene-Sullivan Special Education Cooperative will meet in executive session to discuss confidential student records and information about prospective employees 8:30 a.m. on Dec. 10 with the regular meeting to follow at 10 a.m. in the conference room at 77 "A" St., N.E., Linton, Ind.

Lyons Senior Center

The Lyons Senior Center will host a pancake and sausage breakfast and bake sale from 7 - 10 a.m. on Dec. 20. Homemade noodles will be available for purchase and the raffle drawing will also be held. Tickets are $1 each or six for $5. You need not be present to win. The center's hours have changed and are now 8:30 a.m. - 3 p.m. on Monday through Friday.

Faith Community Church

Faith Community Church will host the Christmas musical "Come Let Us Worship the King" at 7 p.m. on Dec. 12 and Dec. 14. Faith Community Church is located five miles south of Dugger on State Road 157. Everyone is invited.

Scotland Full Gospel Church

Scotland Full Gospel Church will sale ham and beans, chili, hot dogs, desserts and drinks at the fellowship hall during Scotland's Christmas in the Village Saturday.

Roosevelt Mission Christmas party for kids

The Roosevelt Mission will host its annual Christmas party for children in need at 7 p.m. on Dec. 18. Deadline to sign up is Dec. 16. Donations of toys and money must be dropped off by Dec. 17. Scotland Cemetery meeting

A Scotland Cemetery meeting will be at 7 p.m. on Monday at the Scotland Fire Department. Everyone is welcome.

Greene County Singles

The Greene County Singles will hold a dance, dinner and silent auction today at the Greene County Extension Building at Switz City. Doors open at 6:30 p.m., dinner at 7 p.m., dance from 8- 11 p.m. Admission is $5 with a food item, $6 with a 2 liter soda or $7 empty-handed. For more information call 825-4032.

Jasonville Senior Center

The Jasonville Senior Center will hold its annual birthday/Christmas party (dinner) Dec. 11 with the meal at noon. Those attending should bring a vegetable dish, salad or dessert. Meat, drinks and table service will be provided by the center. The center is also asking that each person attending bring a non-perishable food item to assist the local food pantry. Bingo is scheduled for the afternoon.

Scotland's Christmas in the Village

Bloomfield Girls Summer Softball will have Otis Spunkmeyer cookie dough for sale today during Christmas in the Village at the Scotland Hotel. The event also includes home tours, vendors in the fire house and hotel, train rides and Santa Claus will be at the barber shop. Christmas parade at 6 p.m.

Hooked rugs at library

There will be a display of traditional hooked rugs at the Worthington Public Library through Dec. 15. The pieces were made by members of the Holy Hookers Rug Hooking Group which meets monthly at the library.

Gospel and Christmas songs

Gospel and Christmas songs will be played at 7 p.m. on Dec. 17 at the Hymera Independent Community Church. There will be an open microphone and free chili.

Christmas breakfast

Theta Gamma alumnae of Delta Theta Tau Sorority's Christmas breakfast will be at 9 a.m. today at Bloomfield Main Street Cafe.

Christmas lights soup, sandwich dinner

Sandborn's annual Christmas lights soup and sandwich dinner will be from 4:30 - 7 p.m. today at the Sandborn Town Park. Cost for adults is $4.50 children $2.50. You can visit with Santa from 6 - 8 p.m.

Delts Christmas House walk

The Theta Pi chapter of Delta Theta Tau will sponsor its annual house walk from 2- 5 p.m. Sunday. Tickets are available for purchase from any Delt member, at the Jasonville Public Library or at any home the day of the walk. Tickets are $5. Homes are Clint and Heather Stockrahm, Richard and Stephanie Emanus, Blaine and Cindy Keene and Andy and Karen Sluder.

House of Grace

House of Grace Coffee House will offer fellowship, food, worship and youth classes. The church is located at 792 S. Section St. in Dugger.

Central Greene County Ministerial Association

In a truly ecumenical spirit, the Central Greene County Ministerial Association pastors are approaching the Advent season in a fresh way. They will be preaching on four common themes during the season, focusing on significant proclamations in the Christmas story. They are: "For nothing is impossible with God." (Dec. 7), "He will save His people from their sins." (Dec. 14) and "Peace, Good Will to Man" (Dec. 21)

Pleasantville food pantry

The Pleasantville United Methodist Church food pantry is now open on the second and fourth Saturdays of the month from 10:30 a.m. - noon.

Holiday Happenings at

the Bloomfield Public Library

Children and their parents can now sign up for the Bloomfield Library's Family Reading Program that runs now through Jan. 31. Each Monday in December there will be a "make and take" craft table set up in the children's area with a holiday craft. Children can drop in any time and make one of the weekly activities. Crafts will include, ornaments, greeting cards and more. Also watch for a Holiday Scavenger Hunt over Christmas break.

Tri Kappa cheese balls

Linton Tri Kappa has cheese balls for sale. Cheese balls with nuts are $6.50 and plain are $6. Contact Beth Gillan at 847-2010 or any Tri Kappa member to purchase a cheese ball.

Free HIV testing

Free, confidential HIV, Hepatitis C and Syphilis testing will be available from 1-3 p.m. Dec. 10 at the Greene County Health Department located at 217 E. Spring St. in Bloomfield. Call 384-4469 for more information.

Create Unique Christmas Wreaths

Learn to gather and process natural materials to make different shaped wreaths from 10:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. today at the Bloomfield Public Library Learn to combine sticks, twigs, grasses, flowers, seeds, and evergreens with other embellishments to create a unique wreath for you to take home and display. Sonshine Shop

The Greene County Soil Waste Management District and Recycling Center is partnering with the Sonshine Shop on 14 N. Washington St. in Worthington. There will be a collection site starting Monday for paper, books, magazines, plastic, aluminum cans, steel food cans and cardboard located in the back of the Sonshine Shop by the blue building. Residents are asked to drop off recyclable materials only and do not leave trash at this site.

Worthington Senior Citizens

The Worthington Senior Center is selling persimmon pulp. Cost is $4 for a two-cup package. Call 875-2525 or 875-2012 to order.

Worthington Tri-Kappa taking orders

The Worthington Chapter of Tri Kappa is taking pre-orders for Uncle Al's Pecans and Candies, cheeseballs, and soups. The cheeseballs are $5 each for either chipped beef or cheddar. The soups choices are chili, vegetable, potato, and ham and bean. The soups are $4 per quart. The cheeseballs and soups will be made by the Tri Kappa members. GED preparation classes

Turning Point Education Center in Switz City is offering GED preparation classes. Class times are available Monday through Friday from 8:15 to 11:15 a.m. and noon to 3 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays 5 - 8 p.m. Interested students may contact Misty Hunt at 659-2533 for program information and enrollment requirements.

White River Valley junior class

GED testing

GED testing for the General Equivalency Diploma (GED) is given on the second Tuesday and Wednesday of each month at the Greene County Community Learning Center housed at White River Valley High School. Those wishing to take the exam must register in person, one week prior to the exam and present three pieces of ID including one photo ID. Wig bank

The American Cancer Society announced its wig program is now being offered to cancer patients at Pam's Style Shop in Bloomfield. Bloomfield Food pantry

The Refuge Assembly of God food pantry will be open every Wednesday from 1-5 p.m. to assist those living in Bloomfield. To donate, please contact Trina at 384-8093 during the pantry's open hours.
