He was born on June 6, 1926 in Detroit, Mich., the son of the late William and Anna May (Evans) Phillips.
He retired from Omco Foundry in 1988 and was a member of the Congregational Christian Church, Union City American Legion No.158.
Surviving relatives include: his wife, Mary E. (Worrick) Phillips; one son, Eddie Lee (Nate) Phillips and wife, Dolores of Swayzee; one stepson, Fred Bradford and wife, Terrie of San Diego, Calif., three sisters Josephine Fainot of Linton, Joanna Weaver Hymeria and Wanda Cocker of Colorado Springs, Colo.; one grandson; one granddaughter; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one sister and five brothers.
Funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 9 at the Congregational Christian Church in Winchester with Pastor Max Edwards officiating. Burial will be at 2 p.m. on Wednesday at the Fairview Cemetery in Linton.
Friends of the family may call on Monday 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Thayer Funeral Home in Winchester.
Memorials may be given to the Church.
