Hooked rugs at library

There will be a display of traditional hooked rugs at the Worthington Public Library through Dec. 15. The pieces were made by members of the Holy Hookers Rug Hooking Group which meets monthly at the library.

Linton-Stockton PTO

The Linton-Stockton PTO will host a Secret Santa workshop during school hours the week of Dec. 1. Evening shopping times are Tuesday and Thursday from 6-8 p.m. The shop will be on the stage in the multi-purpose room.

Bloomfield Town Council to meet

The Bloomfield Town Council will meet in executive session at 4 p.m. on Monday at town hall, 12 E. Main Street. The purpose of this meeting is personnel issues.

Memory Makers Quilt Guild

The Memory Makers Quilt Guild of Greene County will meet at 6 p.m. on Dec. 4 in the community room of the Bloomfield Library. A holiday dinner will be from 6 - 8 p.m. All members and their spouses are encouraged to attend.

Gospel and Christmas songs

Gospel and Christmas songs will be played at 7 p.m. on Dec. 17 at the Hymera Independent Community Church. There will be an open microphone and free chili.

Greene County General Hospital Auxiliary

The annual Christmas party for the Greene County General Hospital Auxiliary will be at 2 p.m. on Dec. 4 in the cafeteria.

Christmas breakfast

Theta Gamma alumnae and Delta Theta Tau Sorority's Christmas breakfast will be at 9 a.m. on Dec. 6 at Bloomfield Main Street Cafe.

Christmas lights soup, sandwich dinner

Sandborn's annual Christmas lights soup and sandwich dinner will be from 4:30 - 7 p.m. on Dec. 6 at the Sandborn Town Park. Cost for adults is $4.50 children $2.50. You can visit with Santa from 6 - 8 p.m.

Concert to benefit food pantry

An old time Christmas concert featuring "Grandview Junction" Bluegrass Band to benefit the Linton Community Food Pantry will be Dec. 5 from 6:30-8 p.m. at Saron Church (440 1st St. NE). Admission cost is the contribution of canned goods for the Community Food Pantry or a monetary donation. Light refreshments will be provided. Pantry participants include: First Christian Church, First United Methodist Church, Saron United Church of Christ and St. Peter Catholic Church. Everyone is welcome.

Delts Christmas House walk

The Theta Pi chapter of Delta Theta Tau will sponsor its annual house walk from 2- 5 p.m. Dec. 7. Tickets are available for purchase from any Delt member, at the Jasonville Public Library or at any home the day of the walk. Tickets are $5. Homes are Clint and Heather Stockrahm, Richard and Stephanie Emanus, Blaine and Cindy Keene and Andy and Karen Sluder.

House of Grace

House of Grace Coffee House will offer fellowship, food, worship and youth classes. The church is located at 792 S. Section St. in Dugger.

Gospel singers

Gospel singers "For His Glory" will present the word in music at 9 a.m. Sunday at the Marco United Methodist Church and at 10:30 a.m. Sunday at the Lyons United Methodist Church.

Central Greene County Ministerial Association

In a truly ecumenical spirit, the Central Greene County Ministerial Association pastors are approaching the Advent season in a fresh way. They will be preaching on four common themes during the season, focusing on significant proclamations in the Christmas story. They are:

"Do not be afraid. Your prayer has been heard." (Nov. 30), "For nothing is impossible with God." (Dec. 7), "He will save His people from their sins." (Dec. 14) and "Peace, Good Will to Man" (Dec. 21)

Cowden to perform

Randy Cowden will be performing Gospel music Sunday at 6:30 p.m. at the Kentucky Ridge Church. The church is three miles west of the Crane gate on State Road 45. For more information call 325-7767. Everyone is welcome.

Linton trash pick-up

Linton's Thursday trash route will be picked up today and Friday's trash route will be picked up on Monday.

Jason Camp and family to entertain

Jason and his family will be at Union Church at 6 p.m. Sunday. Special singing will be performed by Brother Jason and his family, also Brother Jason will preach. The church is located on State Road 43 between Hendricksville and Solsberry. Union Church will host the 5th Sunday sing at 2 p.m. Nov. 30.

Pleasantville food pantry

The Pleasantville United Methodist Church food pantry is now open on the second and fourth Saturdays of the month from 10:30 a.m. - noon.

Holiday Happenings at the Bloomfield Public Library

Stop in during Thanksgiving break and do a scavenger hunt and decorate paper stars to hang in the Bloomfield Public Library. December 1 children and their parents can sign up for the Family Reading Program that runs from Dec. 1 to Jan. 31. Each Monday in December there will be a "make and take" craft table set up in the children's area with a holiday craft. Children can drop in any time and make one of the weekly activities. Crafts will include, ornaments, greeting cards and more. Also watch for a Holiday Scavenger Hunt over Christmas break.

Shakamak Chamber of Commerce Christmas Festival

Booth space for the Shakamak Chamber of Commerce Christmas Festival is available for $20. Set-up times are from 5:30 - 7:30 p.m. on Dec. 5 and begin at 6 a.m. on Dec. 6. Mary Yeryar Shacklett to celebrate 100

Mary Yeryar Shacklett will turn 100 today. In honor of this event, her children are requesting friends and family send cards and letters to R.R. 2 Box 10, Jasonville, Ind., 47438. Her children will read all cards and letters to her on her birthday.

Jasonville American Legion Post 172

Jasonville American Legion Post 172 will host an open house from 9 p.m. - 1 a.m. today with Silverado providing musical entertainment.

Bloomfield Lions Club

The Bloomfield Lions Club is selling 20 pound fruit boxes (oranges and grapefruit) for $15, red and golden delicious apples at $24 a bushel, $12 a half bushel, $6 a peck, or $3 a half peck. To order call 384-8907 or 384-4941. Fruit delivery will be around Dec. 1.

Tri Kappa cheese balls

Linton Tri Kappa has cheese balls for sale. Cheese balls with nuts are $6.50 and plain are $6. Contact Beth Gillan at 847-2010 or any Tri Kappa member to purchase a cheese ball.

Free HIV testing

Free, confidential HIV, Hepatitis C and Syphilis testing will be available from 1-3 p.m. Dec. 10 at the Greene County Health Department located at 217 E. Spring St. in Bloomfield. Call 384-4469 for more information.

Blood drive

The Bloomfield Chapter of the National Honor Society is sponsoring a blood drive from 9 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. on Dec. 5 in the junior high gym at Bloomfield Jr./Sr. High School. Community members are also invited to give blood. Call 384-4550 in advance or e-mail jevans@bsd.k12.in.us ahead of time to be put on the schedule.

Create Unique Christmas Wreaths

Learn to gather and process natural materials to make different shaped wreaths from 10:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. Dec. 6 at the Bloomfield Public Library Learn to combine sticks, twigs, grasses, flowers, seeds, and evergreens with other embellishments to create a unique wreath for you to take home and display. All materials provided, but please bring pliers, scissors, and gloves. Call 384-4125 to register and prepay $10 by Dec. 4.

Santa in Linton

Santa will soon be arriving to the downtown Linton Rotary Park. His workshop hours will be as follows: today 1-4 p.m., Dec. 5 4-6 p.m., Dec. 6 Santa will be on the Indiana Railroad train that day, Dec. 12 4-6 p.m., Dec. 13 1-4 p.m., Dec. 19 4-6 p.m., Dec. 20 1-4 p.m.

Dugger Holiday Bazaar

The town of Dugger will hold a holiday bazaar from 10 a.m. - 4 p.m. today at the Dugger Community Building. Interested vendors should call Jon Dobbs at 648-2902. A lighted Christmas parade will also take place at 6 p.m. Nov. 29 on Main Street.

Shakamak Christmas parade

Genealogy workshop

A genealogy workshop will be held from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. today at the Linton Public Library. David Benefiel will again provide information on the subject. This workshop is not for beginners, but those who wish to learn more about genealogical research. Participants should be familiar with the use of a computer and the Internet and be prepared to conduct research during the workshop. Participants should bring a flash drive, at least one completed "Family Group Sheet", a notebook and pen, and change for copies. There will be a lunch break from noon until 1 p.m. Those who will have visiting family members are encouraged to sign them up for the workshop or bring them along. The workshop will be limited to eight persons with one guest each. For more information and to sign up for the workshop, please contact the Linton Public Library by Nov. 24.

Sonshine Shop

The Greene County Soil Waste Management District and Recycling Center is partnering with the Sonshine Shop on 14 N. Washington St. in Worthington. There will be a collection site starting Monday for paper, books, magazines, plastic, aluminum cans, steel food cans and cardboard located in the back of the Sonshine Shop by the blue building. Residents are asked to drop off recyclable materials only and do not leave trash at this site.

Worthington Senior Citizens

The Worthington Senior Center is selling persimmon pulp. Cost is $4 for a two-cup package. Call 875-2525 or 875-2012 to order.

Worthington Tri-Kappa taking orders

The Worthington Chapter of Tri Kappa is taking pre-orders for Uncle Al's Pecans and Candies, cheeseballs, and soups. The cheeseballs are $5 each for either chipped beef or cheddar. The soups choices are chili, vegetable, potato, and ham and bean. The soups are $4 per quart. The cheeseballs and soups will be made by the Tri Kappa members. GED preparation classes

Turning Point Education Center in Switz City is offering GED preparation classes. Class times are available Monday through Friday from 8:15 to 11:15 a.m. and noon to 3 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays 5 - 8 p.m. Interested students may contact Misty Hunt at 659-2533 for program information and enrollment requirements.

White River Valley junior class

The White River Valley junior class is selling discounts and school event calendars for post prom fundraising. Cost is $5. Contact any class member for purchase.

GED testing

GED testing for the General Equivalency Diploma (GED) is given on the second Tuesday and Wednesday of each month at the Greene County Community Learning Center housed at White River Valley High School. Those wishing to take the exam must register in person, one week prior to the exam and present three pieces of ID including one photo ID. Federal Black Lung assistance

Lyons Senior Citizens center

The Lyons Senior Citizens Center, 150 N. Jefferson St., now has wooden toy crafts for sale. Hours of operation are Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Lyons First Christian Church youth group

The Lyons First Christian Church youth group meets at 6 p.m. on Mondays at the church's East Broad Street location.

Dugger Legion to meet

The Rexford Ballard American Legion Post 224 will meet the first Monday of each month at 7:30 p.m.

Jasonville Senior center update

The Jasonville Senior Citizen Center, located at 145 S. Lawton, has opened a country store and gift shop. It will be open from 9 a.m.-noon on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays. All proceeds will benefit the senior center. For more information, call the center at 665-9882.

Wig bank

The American Cancer Society announced its wig program is now being offered to cancer patients at Pam's Style Shop in Bloomfield. Narcotics Anonymous

Narcotics Anonymous will meet Saturdays at 7 p.m. at the Trinity Lutheran Church on State Road 54 East. There will be open discussion and all are welcome.

Lebanon Baptist Food Pantry will only be open on the fourth Thursday of each month from 6-7:30 p.m.

Bloomfield Food pantry

The Refuge Assembly of God food pantry will be open every Wednesday from 1-5 p.m. to assist those living in Bloomfield. To donate, please contact Trina at 384-8093 during the pantry's open hours.
