BICKNELL -- Twelve members of the Linton-Stockton football team, including coach Steve Weber, earned Southwest Seven Conference awards at the annual conference banquet Monday night.

Six players were named to the first team and four more to the second team. Four of those players were also named to the academic team along with Adam Rose.

Senior quarterback Keith Cunningham, who was named to the conference first team, was named the conference offensive player of the year. Weber, who has guided the Miners to three sectional titles in his nine years at the reins, earned coach of the year award.

Weber has guided the Miners to 23 straight conference wins against zero defeats in the SW7's brief four-year history.

Cunningham has directed the Miners to a 12-0 record thus far heading into their regional championship game Friday night against undefeated Rockville. The senior signal caller has rushed for 621 yards on 80 attempts with eight scores, while also passing for 1,544 yards with 19 touchdowns against just six interceptions. Cunningham has completed 58 percent of his passes on the season (89 of 153).

Also earning an individual award was North Daviess junior linebacker and tight end, Jano Davis. The two-way starter for the Cougars was recognized as the conference defensive player of the year for his efforts.

Davis anchored the Cougars defense, who gave up just 11.9 points per game on the season. The junior racked up 87 total tackles on the year with 16 for a loss. He registered three quarterback sacks, six interceptions, five passes broken up, one blocked punt, one fumble recovery and one forced fumble.

The Cougars landed eight players on the first and second all-conference teams.

Nine players from North Knox were named to first and second teams, while Union (Dugger) received six and Eastern Greene, North Central and Wood Memorial each received five team members.
