On August 26, 1968, he married Ellen F. Robinson.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He worked on the railroad for a period of time and then opened Sharp's TV & Repair Service, which he owned and operated for many years. In later years, Daniel took a job with NWSC Crane and remained at this job until his retirement. He was a member of the First Church of God and the Frank Courtney American Legion Post #22 in Linton.
Survivors include two step-daughters: Marsha (Jerald) Elliott of Camby, and Shirley Roberts of Madisonville, KY; and one daughter-in-law, Mary Hayes of Fillmore, eight grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by two nephews: Dave Scott of Farmersburg and Frank Walraven of Indianapolis and a niece, Mary Beth Scott of Farmersburg, IN.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Ellen, October 17, 2005; one step-son, Samuel L. Hayes; and two sisters: Ruth Walraven and Florence Scott.
Friends may call at Anderson-Poindexter Memory Chapel in Linton from 5-8 Sunday and from 9:00 AM until the hour of service on Monday.
The funeral service will begin at 10 a.m. on Monday at Anderson-Poindexter Memory Chapel with Rev. John Catchem officiating.
Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Linton, IN, with Military Graveside Rites given by American Legion Post #22.
