Noodle dinner/bake sale

St. Ann's Annual Noodle Dinner/Community Food Pantry Bake Sale will be November 7 from 9 a.m. until 7 p.m. Browse and buy baked goods, buy chances on raffle items, and enjoy wonderful homemade beef/chicken noodles {dine in or carryouts served 11 a.m. until 7 p.m.). Worthington Assembly of God Harvest Party

Worthington Assembly of God will host its annual harvest party at the community building in the Worthington Park from 6:30 - 8:30 p.m. today . Stop in while trick or treating or come and stay. Lots of food, games and candy and drawings for prizes (register at the door). Those in sixth grade and under can play, parents and older siblings are also welcome and encouraged to stay, eat and fellowship.

Greene County General Auxiliary

The Greene County General Auxiliary will meet for its annual Hospital Tea at 2 p.m. Monday in the cafeteria.

Health Fair

A health fair will be held from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. Saturday at the Owensburg-Jackson Township Fire Department. Flu shots $15 with a Medicare card, free blood sugar testing, free chili and more.

Worthington Tri Kappa Annual Bake Sale

Worthington Tri Kappa will host its annual Bake Sale on Nov. 22 from 10 am - 2 p.m. at the Fire Station at the corner of US 231, Washington Street and Main St. We will have a wide variety of homemade baked goods. Our beef and cheddar cheeseballs will be available as well as a selection of Uncle Al's nuts.

Beekeeper group to meet at fairgrounds

The Wabash Valley Beekeepers Association will be holding a meeting Nov. 13 from 7-9 p.m. at the Greene County 4-H Fairgrounds. Information will be available to those who want to know more about beekeeping, from getting started to winterizing hives. This will be an excellent opportunity to collect and exchange information and ideas, and meet other area beekeepers. A question and answer session will be held. Worthington Town Council

Worthington Town Council will hold a special session at 7 p.m. Saturday for the downtown streetscape dedication and reception.

Chili cook-off

The Hendricksville Area Association will hold its annual chili cook off from 4 - 8 p.m. Saturday at the community center. Live music also scheduled.

Corn hole tournament

A corn hole tournament will be held at 10 a.m. Nov. 8 at the Jasonville Fire Station. Registration at 9:30 a.m. All proceeds go to Supporting Heroes.

Solid Waste Board to meet Nov. 5

The Greene County Solid Waste Management Board will conduct a public hearing on the 2009 budget in a special meeting at 10:30 a.m. on Nov. 5. The meeting will be conducted in the commissioner's room, located on the third floor of the courthouse. The budget is set for final adoption on Nov. 18.

Holiday Bazaar

Beta Sigma Phi's Holiday Bazaar will be held from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday at the Linton-Stockton High School Auditeria. Admission is free. Food, raffles, and a wide variety of unique gift and craft items will be available.

Luminaries being offered at no charge

Beta Sigma Phi is making luminaries for Veteran's Day to be displayed at Anderson-Poindexter Memory Chapel. If you or someone you know is a veteran, or you have a loved one who has passed and would like them to be included, please contact us so we may include your name on a luminary. The Lawrence County Rock Club will meet at 7 p.m. Saturday at the Company Concourse in Bedford. Bob Harman will speak.

Bloomfield Street Department

The Bloomfield Street Department will be picking up leaves in November. The week of Nov. 3, streets running north and south, the leaves will be picked up. The week of Nov. 10, streets running east and west, the leaves will be picked up. Don Lawless, street department supervisor, asks that all leaves be on the upper side of the curb and not in the streets so that the leaves do not clog up the storm drains.

Linton-Stockton School Board

The Linton-Stockton School Board will meet for a work session at 5:30 p.m. Monday at 801 NE 1st St. in Linton.

Sandborn Town Council

Due to the election on Nov. 4, the Sandborn Town Council will hold its regular monthly session at 6 p.m. on Nov. 11 at town hall.

Christmas bazaar

The Carlisle Christian Church Christmas bazaar and chili supper will be from 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. on Nov. 8. at the community building on Alexander Street. There will be raffles for different items, and one is a homemade jelly cabinet. There will be lots of other homemade items for the Christmas holiday, fresh baked pies, candies and cakes and the chili supper prepare by the ladies of the church.

Dinner and a movie concert

The Eastern Greene band program presents dinner and a movie concert today at the EG Middle School -- with dinner at 5:30 p.m. and concert at 7:15 p.m.

Hog roast

The Lyons American Legion will host a hog roast from 5-8 p.m. on Saturday. Cost is $8.50 per person. Live music and raffles also scheduled.

Road closure

Black Ankle Road, County Road 750 East in Jackson Township, between State Road 48 and County Road 450 South will be closed Friday.

Cemetery Sunday

The Marco Cemetery Association has designated Nov. 2 as Cemetery Sunday. An open invitation is extended to all to visit and decorate grave sites. For questions/directions call 659-3603.

North Daviess drama club

The North Daviess drama club will present "A Christmas Carol" at 2 and 7 p.m. Saturday and at 2 p.m. Nov. 2 in the high school cafetorium. Tickets are $5.

Bloomfield High School class of 2010 fundraiser

The Bloomfield High School Class of 2010 Post Prom Committee is selling Gray Brothers frozen homemade 10" pies. Flavors available are: apple, cherry, raisin, pumpkin, apricot, pecan, blackberry, peanut butter, sugar free apple, sugar free cherry and sugar free berry patch. Orders will be taken through Oct. 31 and delivery will be made on Nov. 20. Cost is $12.00 per pie. Contact any junior class member to place your order. Jasonville First Baptist Church

Assistance applications available

Applications for low-income families to obtain clothing and toys for their children at Christmas will be available until Oct. 31 at the following locations: Greene County Office of Family and Children (CR 70E, Bloomfield) Linton-Stockton Chamber of Commerce (159 1st St. NW) Bloomfield Town Hall (12 E. Main) Jasonville Utility Office (304 W. Main) Worthington Town Hall (SR 67) Families living in Greene County school districts are eligible to apply for benefits for children 12 years old and under. Applications must be returned to any of the above locations, or postmarked to PO Box 516, Linton, IN 47441, by Friday.

Commissioners meeting

The Greene County Commissioners will meet in regular session at 9:30 a.m. Nov. 5. The meeting will be conducted in the commissioner's room, located on the third floor of the courthouse in Bloomfield.

Trick or treat times

Trick or treating in Linton will be from 6-9:30 p.m. today. Trick or treating in Bloomfield will be from 6-8:30 p.m. today. The town asks that you only go to homes with the porch lights on.

Arts and Crafts fair

The Owen Valley Patriot Band and Guard Boosters are hosting an Arts and Crafts Fair from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. Nov. 8 in the Owen Valley High School Auxiliary Gym. This craft fair will benefit the entire band program. The School is located on Highway 46 in Spencer. Any type of art or craft items are welcome at this event. Booth spaces will be 10x10, and will cost $25 with $10 extra for supplied electric. LSHS band selling trash bags

The Quest

Linton First Christian Church will hold "The Quest" from 6:30-9 p.m. today. This free event will include a bonfire, wiener roast, hay ride and obstacle course. Everyone is welcome. Taste of Autumn

Taste of Autumn will be from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. Saturday at Saron Church. This luncheon, sponsored by Psi Iota Xi, will feature four entrees, four vegetables, four salads and four desserts. Sonshine Shop

The Greene County Soil Waste Management District and Recycling Center is partnering with the Sonshine Shop on 14 N. Washington St. in Worthington. There will be a collection site starting Monday for paper, books, magazines, plastic, aluminum cans, steel food cans and cardboard located in the back of the Sonshine Shop by the blue building. Residents are asked to drop off recyclable materials only and do not leave trash at this site.

Organization workshop

In celebration of its new fire truck, the Bloomfield Fire Department will hold an open house from 4-8 p.m. Saturday at the station. Solsberry Christian Church

Worthington Tri-Kappa taking orders

The Worthington Chapter of Tri Kappa is taking pre-orders for Uncle Al's Pecans and Candies, cheeseballs, and soups. The cheeseballs are $5 each for either chipped beef or cheddar. The soups choices are chili, vegetable, potato, and ham and bean. The soups are $4 per quart. The cheeseballs and soups will be made by the Tri Kappa members. LSHS 2009/Parent Club

The LSHS Class of 2009 and Parents Club is selling Miner discount cards for $5. These cards are available from senior students and parents, and offer valuable discounts from local businesses. The senior parents are selling chances for a handmade walking stick crafted by Ralph Fulford, grandfather of Jacob Tibbett. It is decorated with Linton Miner music and athletic carvings. These chances are $1 each and 6 for $5. Miner cards and chances for the walking stick are also available at all home football games.

GED preparation classes

Turning Point Education Center in Switz City is offering GED preparation classes. Class times are available Monday through Friday from 8:15 to 11:15 a.m. and noon to 3 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays 5 - 8 p.m. Interested students may contact Misty Hunt at 659-2533 for program information and enrollment requirements.

GED testing

GED testing for the General Equivalency Diploma (GED) is given on the second Tuesday and Wednesday of each month at the Greene County Community Learning Center housed at White River Valley High School. Those wishing to take the exam must register in person, one week prior to the exam and present three pieces of ID including one photo ID.
