Vera E. McKinnon

Vera E. McKinnon, 87, of Newberry, passed away at 9:40 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 22, 2008, at Greene County General Hospital in Linton.

She was born March 26, 1921, in Linton, the daughter of Desire and Minnie (Barnett) Cuvelier.

She was a homemaker and was affiliated with the Linton Assembly of God Church.

She is survived by a son, Jerry D. (Debbie) McKinnon, Sr. of Elnora; a daughter, Caroline (Rev. Fred) Verden of Angola; two sisters, Evelyn Harris of Linton and Betty Snellenberger of Clay City; four grandchildren, Rev. Tim Verden , Bob Verden, Jerry D. McKinnon, Jr. and Lora Rhodes; 11 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Herman "Ed" McKinnon; two grandsons, Michael McKinnon and Joseph McKinnon; four sisters, Ethel Lucas, Thelma Cole, Geneva Whitlow, and Wilma Pickett.

Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at Welch & Cornett Funeral Home, Linton Chapel with Revs. Fred Verden and David Atkins officiating. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery.
