Lady Cardinals lose at home

Bloomfield High School slipped to 8-19 after a 25-20, 4-25, 11-25, 18-25 loss to visiting Springs Valley in a non-conference varsity volleyball match at Glover Gymnasium Monday night.

"The girls came out to play," said BHS coach Jennifer Heaton. "But unfortunately they did not keep it up."

Shelby Gott led the Lady Cards with 19 digs and two aces on 11 of 11 serving.

Ariel Fuller was 12 of 13 behind the service line with one ace and 10 digs. Katie Walker stepped in for the injury Kendra Spelts and tallied 12 assists, one kill, seven digs and she was 10 of 11 serving.

Kaitilyn O'Neall made 5 of 7 attempts on serve. She ended up with four kills, one block and five digs. Elyse Weddle finished with one assist, one kill, three blocks and a dig.

Hallie Retseck was 3 of 3 serving with one ace. She also had 12 digs.

Sarah Scott was 2 of 4 on serve with a block and four digs. Kelsie Spelts added 11 digs and made 7 of 9 service attempts.

Senior Leairra Thompson contributed 10 kills, eight blocks and one dig. Letitia Poe collected two kills, three blocks and four digs.

The Lady Cardinals will play Wednesday at Owen Valley. They will host Shoals at 6 p.m. Thursday in a varsity-only match on senior night. They will conclude the regular season at 10 a.m. Saturday at North Knox.

They will begin play at their own Class 2A Sectional at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 16 against South Knox.

Did Springs Valley make it out of Bloomfield with all their volleyballs?
