Friday evening collision sends one to hospital

Saturday, October 11, 2008

A rear-end collision on U.S. 231 south of Bloomfield in Taylor Township on Friday evening sent one person to the hospital complaining of head and neck pain.

Greene County Sheriff's Deputy Skyler J. Pittman said the accident happened around 7:50 p.m. on the highway south of County Road 450 S.

Amanda R. Sullivan, 57, Bloomfield, was southbound in a 2000 Pontiac when she stopped in traffic, preparing to turn east into a private drive.

Cody Ray Berry, 31, Kennedale, Tex., was southbound in a 2007 Chevrolet Cobalt and did not see Sullivan's vehicle in time to avoid a collision.

A number of rescue and law enforcement personnel responded to the scene and Pittman said by the time he arrived to investigate the accident, the Greene County Ambulance Service had already transported one driver to the hospital.

Sullivan was taken to Greene County General Hospital by the E-3 ambulance.

Berry was reported to have suffered a laceration to his right arm and had ankle pain but signed a release refusing treatment on the scene.

Besides Pittman, Bloomfield Deputy Marshal Shane Smith responded as did Greene County Sheriff's Deputy Brad Deckard and the Richland-Taylor Volunteer Fire Department.
